Preferably the beneficiary as the IV package is all about them. I wrote my own and signed it. I wrote the AOS cover letter too, but obviously made my husband sign it laughing.gif

Oh, when did you get your case number? You need to update your signature :P

And it should be okay putting his name as the owner.

There's two different things.

The bar-coded cover SHEET from the payment portal.

and

The cover LETTER written by the petitioner/beneficiary, stating the purpose of the package and what the contents are inside.

i will. I had some more important things to do first :P

is the cover letter required or just something nice to do coz it looks better?

OMG, we have so much paperwork already, i start getting lost. I have everything scanned and saved 3 times and the originals in a folder. at some point before the interview i need to print everything out and the important stuff even twice (one for me, one for them)

THX A LOT for your help Saylin!!!!!

SaYlin,

Just realized I spelt your name wrong. So sorry!

I could easily do a new DS 230 but the mail from Trinidad takes forever and I don't want to wait for a new one with my hubby's signature. hmmm... I'm going to look and see how different the form is.

Haha, it's okay ;) I assumed you were talking to me laughing.gif

Ah, if you already have the DS-230, then don't worry about it.

I just looked at the form. Only part 1 (page 1 and 2) are a new edition, whereas part 2 (page 3 and 4) are still an expired one. YOU can always re-do page 1 (where it states the new expiration at the top) and print that out as it doesn't require a signature. Is page 2 identical to the one you have from the expired one?

i mean this. i know it says petitioner, but aren't the beneficiary suppose to? and am i sending it straight to NVC? or will my husband in the US send it after i send it to him?

[...]

I'd suggest if you haven't sent the documents, then yes, sign it, and change the wording around to reflect that YOU were the one that wrote it. And you can either send it to NVC or your husband can, it doesn't matter. I answer that question in the FAQ ;)

If you want to compare, here's my cover letter for the supporting documents for the IV package:

Patiently waiting for a piece of paper and passport photos in the "snail mail." Lesson Learned: Be always ahead of the game and ensure you have all the required documentation once you get to the NVC stage. Otherwise, you will be slowing yourself down like I am right now.

The cover letter is optional, as stated so in the FAQ and all the guides.

If you're starting to feel overwhelmed, take a breathe and step back. Figure out (by writing on paper or typing in a word processor) what you need to do in the next up-coming days and write it out. Organize it in order of what you need to do first. Then start doing it. It's much easier if you do it this way so you know exactly what you have to do and by when. This will help you to not forget anything.

Or you can be like me, get all the documents ready but get checklist.

I have read many times in VJ that the date on the TOP RIGHT CORNER of the first page of the DS-230 "IT'S NOT THE EXPIRATION DATE" but rather the "MONTH and YEAR" on the Bottom Left the one we should go by because that is in fact the CURRENT EDITION.

Also if you notice that EDITION NUMBER 03-2012 is only located on the bottom of the first page. So before I send my DS-230, Do I just retype PAGE 1 OF THE DS-230 and leave the rest as it is, if everything looks the same as before?

Any comments? :help:

Just actually went through and compare the most current version of DS-230 (03-2012) and compared it with the previous one "02-2010" (I had a copy saved on my computer, and they are the exact same thing, literally! The only difference is page 1 (Top Right and Bottom Left) which read differently. They now said 03/31/2012 (Top Right) and 03-2012 (Bottom Left)

Oh no my friend! I hope yours goes through. My only concern is the phrase at the bottom of page 1 that reads "Previous Editions Obsolete" which will make 02-2010 NOT GOOD anymore

Either that or just stick with page 1 that you have now.

Page 1 I currently have will not work anymore because has now become OBSOLETE

Something else to look into it and perhaps update our fellow VJ members about. Don't you think? My friendly immigration Master?
