First off, do you know HOW the lawyer sent the packages (overnight, express, regular, etc)? Most members here send their packages overnight or express so NVC gets it either the next day, or within a day or two. Perhaps your lawyer got the cheapest shipping ever where it takes like a week or so. Cause then it MIGHT be possible that they haven't gotten to your packages yet. But if the lawyer sent it by overnight/express, then, yes, it should have gotten to an officer by now (unless they've slowed on this as well) as it's been taking a week or two.

I'll inquire about this. The truth is that I don't know. She told me she mailed with priority mail, but it could have used the cheapest shipping available through this.

I would grill your lawyer. Ask for a receipt from DHL/UPS/USPS (whomever she mailed the packages through) showing you she sent a package on so-and-so date. You can try calling the mailing company up and asking if they can verify somehow (not sure if this is possible without a tracking number). Otherwise, you can try asking a supervisor about this; they might be able to find out. If they can't find it, then it might be possible your lawyer really hasn't mailed them out yet. I've seen this happen in a few cases where the lawyer would lie and say they mailed the packages out when they really didn't.

I'll go ahead and ask for the receipt.

Thank you Saylin for all the helpful tips. I'll explore and apply these options as I see how the process evolves.

So today I got through to the Nvc and was told that they got our 2 cases on the 12th but I would have to wait another 10 days cause they were putting them in the system. How on earth do they put stuff in their system, a letter a day?

with the pace they are running with these days, I would say they adding them into their system a word per letter a day actually. Do not listen to what they say, they can't know if something is being worked on a case until it been updated in their system. so yeah, just keep calling.

NOOOOO, you shouldn't have, they specifically say to NOT send it again. I was freaking out too, and got mine exactly one week later, well i didn't get it, my husband did, the petitioner does not get the email, the beneficiary does. the second email may confuse them, call and find out.

Well I assumed they had problems with mine, that's why I resend that, and to be honest I don't see how it could delay the process...my husband has been calling them everyday and he haven't been having a lot of luck with the atendants, they told him that till last friday the other child haven't been available in the system yet!!! THAT SUCKS!!! They are making a mess just because it is a family case, they should do just like USCIS, keep all petitions together when it comes to family processing. Now we will wait till all the IV bills are available in the payment portal to pay them together and send the DS-230 at the same time too. We will see what happens...

As always, thank you for your response. ;)

Posted these q's last night as it was fresh in my head, before i forget

1. So I think i should get the Checklist email today because the Operator said it was sent out yesterday.

My 2008, 2009, and 2010 were all 1040.

I don't know why the operator was saying recent total income does not match with w2, because we don't go by W2. We go by Tax Return transcript. The Operator could not look more into it so i can get more details. Also suggested to email NVC, which i did and got an AUTO response.

I will wait for NVC checklist email before taking the next step.

Yeah, if they were all filed using 1040, then you use the 'total income' line on the tax transcript.

And yeah, those operators aren't as informed as us here ;)

So another vj member has made me aware of some sort of DHL trick to estimate when packages leave NVC. Anybody heard of this?

Read this WHOLE thread (the method has changed slightly): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/194465-how-to-track-your-case-from-nvc-to-embassy/ If you need help tracking, I'd be glad to help. I just need your destination and the exact date it was mailed (as per operator/AVR). I used this method to track my package, and it worked perfectly. Whether or not my case was actually in that package to Montreal, Canada, I don't know, but I felt better tracking it laughing.gif

So today I got through to the Nvc and was told that they got our 2 cases on the 12th but I would have to wait another 10 days cause they were putting them in the system. How on earth do they put stuff in their system, a letter a day?

Yes. Didn't you know, they only have one person that inputs case and only has one finger? laughing.gif

I'll inquire about this. The truth is that I don't know. She told me she mailed with priority mail, but it could have used the cheapest shipping available through this.

I'll go ahead and ask for the receipt.

Thank you Saylin for all the helpful tips. I'll explore and apply these options as I see how the process evolves.

Yes, definitely ask your lawyer some questions. I truly hope she sent it and isn't simply lying to you.

So I found the tracking waybill for a shipment sent from Boston to Sto. Domingo and I am guessing its ours...how funny!

Now question is I thought the docs were sent to the corresponding embassy after an interview date was scheduled? Is this info right? I called NVC and still have no interview date so I am confused...

In most cases, yes, the interview date is scheduled first, and then the case is sent to consulate/embassy. But there are a few countries where the case is sent first and the consulate/embassy assigns the interview date. Not sure if this is the case or not for DR. I suggest looking at fellow DR timelines/profiles and see.

Did you call an operator to find out if your case has left or not? Keep in mind, you're not the only DR case at NVC, so that could be other peoples's cases, not yours.

Posted

Tango- nope no interview Steph and I are waiting on our date we just got case complete on Friday.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/302190-dhl-tracking-from-nvc-to-us-embassy/

That is the link on how to find the shipment going out to your embassy... I found one sent out yesterday and coinsidently NVC had mentioned our case was sent out yesterday. But my confusion is that I thought interview date was scheduled before docs were sent out to embassy...someone correct me if I am wrong...

give it a 5-6 business days and start calling (you can call right now if you want to). with recent cases it been taking about 10-15 days from NOA2 to a case# assigned. You do not care about NVC receiving your case, you really care about Case# to jump start your journey and it 'll be FAST. I would suggest to spend the waiting time reading the 1st 2 posts within this Thread and get the paper work ready and good to go. :)
