Well, I send this email even before I got the DS-3032 e-mail from NVC, and I got the acceptance email from NVC too. You don't necessarily have to fill out the DS-3032 sent to you by NVC, an e-mail would suffice.

Saylin,

Well looks like i got a Checklist for not matching the total income in q's #25 in i-864. :bonk:

Q's :

1) for the 3 years, were we suppose to use Total Income from Tax return transcript or from whats listed under: "(1) Wages, tips, other comp." in W2?

I went over the i-864 and found out that 2010, and 2009 amount for "Total income" matches with whats on the Tax return transcript.

But for 2008, looks like i put amount from "Adjusted Gross Income, instead of Total Income.

GRRRRR i hope that is the issue. :(

2) So i guess i have refill the form and mail again. i doubt they will ask for full packet, just the i-864, right?

1. Please re-read the question on the I-864. No where does it state to use the "wages, tips, etc" line, it's either total income or adjusted gross income, depending on which tax return you filed. I'm guessing your 2008 might be the problem, but it depends. For each year, what tax return was filed (1040 or 1040EZ)?

2. Yes, just re-do the I-864. No need to send the tax transcript, employment letter, pay stubs, etc again. They just want the I-864 re-done. Make sure everything is signed/dated again and include either the AOS bar-coded cover sheet or the bar-coded cover sheet that comes with the checklist. I believe either is alright.

Hi guys

When scan DS-3032 and email to NVC, do I have to send the original one via mail also ?

Thanks

No need to scan or email the DS-3032. Please go to the first post in this thread (you already should have headbonk.gif). There's a link to the 'DS-3032 email template' which you should read again and again until you understand what you have to do.

Saylin,

Well looks like i got a Checklist for not matching the total income in q's #25 in i-864. :bonk:

Few Questions:

1) for the 3 years, were we suppose to use Total Income from Tax return transcript or from whats listed under: "(1) Wages, tips, other comp." in W2? because the Operator said "Total income did not match exactly with whats on W2"....?

I went over the i-864 and found out that 2010, and 2009 amount for "Total income" matches with whats on the Tax return transcript.

But for 2008, looks like i put amount from "Adjusted Gross Income, instead of Total Income.

GRRRRR i hope that is the issue. :( I don't know what that operator was talking about not matching with whats on W2. The operator wasn't able to tell me more details on it, said to email NVC, which i did but i'm going to call again today.

2) So i guess i have refill the form and mail again. i doubt they will ask for full packet, just the i-864, right? Operator said the checklist went out yesterday 3/19/12, so don't know when i'll get it.

3) Do I mail out the corrected I-864 before getting an official Checklist from NVC?

4) if so, then separately from IV packet because i'm going to mail that out also.

5) Do i need to include the "AOS bar-coded doc cover sheet" with the corrected I-864? anything else with it that went with the initial AOS packet?

thank you!

1&2. Don't ask the same questions again :P Please remember, people sleep during the night, so I can't answer until morning.

3. You can if you wish, but I'd suggest waiting, in case there was another problem.

4. I believe you can mail them together in the same package, but in different envelopes inside, but I'm not sure with checklists.

5. See my answer to your first post with these questions...

Dear Saylin:

I apologize for being persistent on this topic, and I really do appreciate all the feedback and helpful hints you've been giving us on these threads.

My case is the following:

My lawyer sent the AOS and IV packages to NVC on March 5th. As of yesterday, the packages are not in the system yet, so the review has not been initiated. The operators tell me that I have to wait 20 days after the packages have been sent. By other peoples' timelines, I'm observing that AOS and IV packages sent and delivered after us have started to be reviewed. I am aware that this is not an exact science and processing times do vary according to each case and different circumstances.

Unfortunataley, the problem is that my lawyer sent the package with priority mail but no tracking number. So I have no way of knowing if and when the packages were delivered. My question is whether once the 20 days waiting period has passed, if NVC can somehow confirm to us if the package is in the builing or not. Should I speak to a supervisor passed this waiting period if they keep telling us that it's not in the system?

I thank you in advance for any guidance you may offer me.

First off, do you know HOW the lawyer sent the packages (overnight, express, regular, etc)? Most members here send their packages overnight or express so NVC gets it either the next day, or within a day or two. Perhaps your lawyer got the cheapest shipping ever where it takes like a week or so. Cause then it MIGHT be possible that they haven't gotten to your packages yet. But if the lawyer sent it by overnight/express, then, yes, it should have gotten to an officer by now (unless they've slowed on this as well) as it's been taking a week or two.

I would grill your lawyer. Ask for a receipt from DHL/UPS/USPS (whomever she mailed the packages through) showing you she sent a package on so-and-so date. You can try calling the mailing company up and asking if they can verify somehow (not sure if this is possible without a tracking number). Otherwise, you can try asking a supervisor about this; they might be able to find out. If they can't find it, then it might be possible your lawyer really hasn't mailed them out yet. I've seen this happen in a few cases where the lawyer would lie and say they mailed the packages out when they really didn't.

can the beneficiary call the NVC to follow up for the case #?

Most definitely 100% yes! I was the beneficiary and I was the one that called everyday, got the case number, gave the email addresses, asked for updates, called to find out the interview, etc. My husband, the petitioner, NEVER called, not once.

thanks guys... any tips on how to talk to nvc so that i know what to expect thanks mucho! :)

The first thing they'll ask for is your USCIS number or NVC number. They might then ask for more information (names of either/both petitioner/beneficiary, dates of birth, email addresses, etc). Once they verify you, then they'll ask how they can help you. That's when you ask your question.

A little tip if you're nervous or whatever, open up Notepad/Word/other word processor, and type out your question, so when you get to an operator, you can just read it to them, so you know you've asked everything. I'll admit, I did this blush.gif I wrote out all the verifying info (case number, names, DOBs, email addresses) at the top of a Notepad, and had my full speech (greeting and question) typed out. So when I got an operator each day, I'd just read my little paragraph. I kept the file saved to my computer so I wouldn't have to re-type it each day laughing.gif

Hold the phone! We are supposed to use the TOTAL income on the I-864 and not the ADJUSTED income on our 1040 or transcript?

Sweet bippy! My income looks a whole lot better now!

It depends on what tax return was filed for each year. I wrote about this a few (more like a hundred it seems with this thread) pages back.

Sent AOS package by E-MAIL, but in the body of the e-mail I had a typo on my petitioner date of birth.

They sent an e-mail confirming this, saying:

So, does this mean I have to resend the AOS through e-mail?

DO NOT RESEND!!! DO NOT RESEND!!! they specifically tell you to NOT resend.

I'm currently planning on flying over to HK on 14April, then back here (hopefully with Sue) on the 30th. Surely we'd have the visa in hand 12 days (8 business days) after the interview, no?

That would be awesome. a perfect gift for her.

I gave up for an April interview, I'm really hoping for May. NVC said that they schedule the 1st 2 weeks of every month for the following month....I'm at 12 days waiting period, this is as painful as waiting for NOA2. :( Maybe I should plan for a trip as well?!

I had it done but then saylin said "case received" means when you get a case number so I deleted it. Lol!

That's just for my spreadsheet! :P You can have whatever you want in your signature! And it'll probably help others in this thread who are following your progress, estimating when they should get their case number. Every date helps on your signature yes.gif

i don't agree with this, i was told by NVC to send the attachment SIGNED. And also told not to mail it snail mail, only e-mail ONCE and not resend just because they aren't replying.

Don't listen to the operators headbonk.gif They don't know about the VJ way of just sending an email with information in the body. There is absolutely NO need to attach a signed DS-3032 to the email as the information in the body is the EXACT, SAME information.

DO NOT RESEND!!! DO NOT RESEND!!! they specifically tell you to NOT resend.

They have to as they made an error in their body. NVC only accepts emails if all the information is correct as they have to verify it's real.

Dump her. What kind of lawyer sends original documents as important as marriage certificates and police records without a secured tracking system???

That's exactly what I thought, it's common sense. But as they say, it seems that with some people common sense is the least common of the senses.

You may try to speak to a supervisor at the NVC but I'm really not sure if they can check that your packages were received. As you already know, the system won't show them until the review has started, so they would have to make a special research for you. If I were you, I would try, if only for peace of mind.

Yes, I think I'll keep calling about the packages until the end of this week. Then, I'll ask to speak to a supervisor and inquire about the possibility of searching for the package, even if that means waiting for them to do it after the "official 20 days" waiting period.

Thank you for your advice Laure.

No need to scan or email the DS-3032. Please go to the first post in this thread (you already should have headbonk.gif). There's a link to the 'DS-3032 email template' which you should read again and again until you understand what you have to do.

As always, thank you for your response. ;)

Posted these q's last night as it was fresh in my head, before i forget

1. So I think i should get the Checklist email today because the Operator said it was sent out yesterday.

My 2008, 2009, and 2010 were all 1040.

I don't know why the operator was saying recent total income does not match with w2, because we don't go by W2. We go by Tax Return transcript. The Operator could not look more into it so i can get more details. Also suggested to email NVC, which i did and got an AUTO response.

I will wait for NVC checklist email before taking the next step.
