I am sorry guys my situation is complicated. by the way it seems that our joint sponsor made a mistake while filling the form. for the Question 19. Citizen/Residency, it says,

1- i am US citizen

2= I am US National ( for joint sponsors only )

3-I am a lawful permanent resident. My alien registration number is A.......

I have chosen 1 for my wife, but our joint sponsor has chosen 1 instead of 2, wouldn t that cause a RFE?

It will be fine. Your joint sponsor is a US Citizen (make sure they provide proof!)

a US national is someone who lives in a territory of the United States, but is not a citizen.

Like Guam or Puerto Rico.

A US Citizen, National or LPR can Joint sponsor an intending immigrant. A US National can not be the primary sponsor for an immigrant into the US.

Hello,

When mailing DS-230 or I-864, do you guys staple the pages or just paper clip?

I can't speak to the NVC, because I haven't sent them anything as of yet. But, when I sent my I-130 petition and supporting documents to USCIS I used paper clips. 6.5 months later I got an RFE from USCIS saying that I didn't include some required documents. I am 100% sure that I included those documents with my original petition. I actually sent originals which were smaller than 8.5"x11" which leads me to believe that they fell out of the stack of papers during processing at the lockbox. When I replied to the RFE I stapled my documents together and my petition was approved 2 days after they received the requested documents.

I plan to staple documents together when I send them to NVC, because I don't want to have a repeat experience of what happened with USCIS, especially since I will be sending original copies of documents that are not 8.5"x11" like the rest of the papers.

07/22/11 - Mailed I-130 petitions for wife and step-daughter

07/28/11 - NOA1 for both

02/21/12 - RFE for both (received hardcopy on 2/25)

She needs a statement from the bank, signed by a teller, giving the average monthly balance.

i just called nvc and they said NOT to put the alien number even if you have it, and since i checked off the first box that im a citizen, do i have to put none or na in all the blank spaces? there are a lot of blank spaces, so by using the check mark this implies that the others don't apply right?

Alright, if you don't want to put the alien number, then don't.

And if you check a checkbox, there's no need to put 'none' or 'n/a' in checkboxes or in blank spaces next to checkboxes that you haven't checked. Maybe I should upload an example of my own I-864....

Have you thought about applying for a job at NVC? because you are so knowledgeable about the process. You will no doubt be an asset to that department........ :star:

I'm guessing you have to be a US citizen to work there. And I'm not there yet (still considering if I want to be one...) Plus, I doubt they'll let me telecommute from South Dakota. And my husband doesn't really want to move anywhere as his family is here in SD as well as he loves his job. So, unless they let me telecommute, that's probably a no-go :(

I always suggest paperclips. Imagine being the reviewing officer. Which is easier to remove: paperclips or staples? Would you rather make your officer happy or ticked off that he has to remove staples? Your choice innocent.gifdevil.gif
