Hey everyone!

I am filling out my I-864 and I just wanted to clarify some doubts. For the record, I tried looking through the pages in this thread but after skimming 7 pages (out of 129!) I think it may be easier just to post :)

1) Just to confirm, all blanks must be filled with either N/A or none. For example, #6 and #7 ask for the alien# and SSN of the immigrant, so I just write N/A?

2) In part 4 (Info. abt the sponsor) for #15 where it says country of domicile I should put Brazil where I live with my husband? Or should I put USA? Sometimes I think they put in trick questions...or it's so simple I think it must be wrong

3) Part 5 household size. Since I counted my husband in (a), for © I put 0? I remember seeing something about this before, but I just want to confirm. better safe than sorry right ;)

4) Since part 7 is about assets and I will not submit this information, do I need to put N/A for all the questions in that section?

Thank you!!!!

1. Put none in 6 or 7. This question is applicable, the beneficiary can definitely have an alien number (I did) or SSN.

2. Yes, put Brazil if that's where your residency is. By the way, have you started looking for jobs and housing in the US yet? This is gonna be big at the time of the interview...

3. Yes, put 0 in c. I know it might seem weird, but for IR-1/CR-1 cases, that's how it is.

4. Yes, put 'N/A' for those boxes. You might want to look into filing the I-864EZ if you're eligible. It's a much shorter form ;)

Hi!!

No I haven't been callig yet, does it really make a difference? I've been following this forum for a bit now and I see people call both morning and evening with no result. So that was actually something I wanted to ask, does it really speed things up to call or do I just end up with frustration and a huge phonebill, (making calls from sweden everyday)?

I would ask my husband to call but after a few calls with no result, he would not be able to hold his toungue and probably tell the poor person at the other end a few not so well chosen words and our cases would be lost forever over there.. :bonk:

Calling doesn't speed up the process, but you'll find out the case number faster. And if you don't call at all, and NVC doesn't have your email addresses (or even if they do), then the packages can be mailed to you, which might take weeks to receive it. I'd suggest calling at least once a week at the minimum.

HELP! I had my wife send over the email DS 303, but I just noticed that because her case number starts with MEP I should be doing online forms.. is this correct? what do I do now?

It should be okay. I know for a few Canadians, even though we're required to do online forms, I've seen some email the DS-3032. Had no impact on their case. Just make sure the DS-260 is filed online.

hi! which form should i fill for my biological son i-864 or i-864w?

For children, file the I-864W. Read this table: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3197.html

Saylin,

So once the IV fee is paid, I will receive the IV pkg. via e-mail attachment? thanks for your usual assistance...

Perhaps. It might take a few days to receive though. And it won't contain the forms at all. Please go back a few posts, I linked to the DS-230 package I received by email.

But, please, don't wait to receive this (if you do at all). Gather all documents NOW. Read the guides, get prepared.

Nothing really about NVC... but I decided to celebrate the fact we've made it this far!

<--------- Look what I got today!

Wow, I love it! :D

Saylin & Trav$ Shell,

Guys for marriage certificate which one you sumbit --1)Long form marriage certificate OR, 2) Short for marriage certificate(Only name and date)?

What we got from Alberta was, first a 'temporary' certificate, that just had our names, the date and the officiant's signature written in pen. It worked well enough to change my name for social security and to get a new driver's license.

What I sent to USCIS and used to change the name on my passport, is the official certificate from the Office of Vital Statistics in Edmonton, that had all the information, names, dates, officiant and witnesses.

Guys for marriage certificate which one you sumbit --1)Long form marriage certificate OR, 2) Short for marriage certificate(Only name and date)?

Ours was from South Dakota. It contained groom's information (name, residence, state of birth, date of birth, age), bride's information (name, residence, state of birth, date of birth, age), marriage information (date married, place married). It's the signed at the bottom the state registrar as well as the date issued.

Nope, it's a completely different number. You can get this from an operator. It's also in the initial information package, underneath the case number and IIN.

Hi all,

I'm working on completing my AOS for my husband, and have a question for which I can't find an answer.

I'll be returning from abroad, and on the I-864, for mailing address, I used my parent's address in the USA. For place of residence, I used my address abroad.

As I'll be returning from abroad, I am using my Dad as a joint sponsor, and having him fill out the I-864, instead of the I-864A. We are not members of the same household, but I have used this address on the I-130 for the 'address you intend to live at in the USA.'

I think I might be worrying too much, but will this cause the NVC to think my Dad should be filling out the I-864A?

I'm over-analyzing, aren't I? Or not?

Thanks for any help!

We are in the same situation. My dad is my joint sponsor and I also used his address for the US address where we are intending to live. We considered the I-864a for awhile too but finally went with the I-864 and we had no problems at NVC. Good luck!
