Good to know :) I'm banging out paperwork today (read: now, lol), so that we're ready to go. I'm sure I'll drop you a message somewhere at some point! :)

**Adding something - whoops, just remembered! With my police certificate, I saw the agent search my aliases, but my former surnames didn't show up on the form even though they were searched. I was fingerprinted though. Think I'll run into an issue with this at NVC?

No, I don't think you'll run into an issue. Weird your aliases didn't come up on the certificate though... Call NVC next week to confirm (and remember, if you want the best answer, call at least five times).

In Line 13, where it says I, the sponsor of the I864A form, is it MY name (the petitioner) or the household member's name filing the I864A that goes there. I think it would be my name but I am not sure. Just double checking.

No, it's the person filling out the form (joint sponsor) that puts their own name.

Or holidays, or Tuesdays, or any time after 1700 local time....

I imagine the cases where emails come out on the weekend are due to batch mode processing. I doubt very much all their stuff is in real time, especially PDF generation and email creation.

laughing.gif

Yeah, the emails are generated, but don't get sent out right away. Like a previous example I gave, my interview was scheduled on a Friday, yet only received the interview letter at 6am on Saturday. Definitely a delay.

+1 for quoting the entire post.

Gotta love when people do that laughing.gif

HI CAN YOU TELL ME THE NVC PROCEDURE RE STAPLES AND CLIPS WHEN SENDING THEM PAPERWORK. THANKS

First off, please do NOT type all in caps. In forums, that means you're yelling.

And to answer your question: I always recommend using paperclips to hold documents together. Reason? It takes a reviewing officer one second to pull off the paperclip, but quite a lot longer to remove a staple. The real question is: do you want to irritate the officer before they even get to reviewing your documents? :P

Anyone know if the K-3 FAQ for which documents to take to the interview applies more or less to the CR-1? If there's a more specific section, I'm not finding it....

Can you link the FAQ you're referring to? I can look it over. And always keep in mind, as well as the general documents most consulates/embassies require, there are frequently country-specific documents needed.

Saylin can you help me with this please :):) :

Hey guys I have a question...i'm worried! Basically the I received a checklist for a birth certificate dated yesterday March 2nd. However, they generated a letter on february 29 for that checklist. I sent in the item and it was received yesterday at 10 30 am their time. The AVR was saying yesterday that a letter was sent/generated on feb 29. Now it is saying March 2nd (yesterday). I;m confused, did they review the birth certificate yesterday or did the AVR just update with the date sent?

Your question was already answered. Like they said, the AVR is unreliable. The best way to find out what's happening is to call an operator on Monday.

That happened to me. I received exactly the same checklist for my marriage certificate. When I called they told me that it was not accepted by the reviewing supervisor and to send a new one or a letter stating the reasons if unobtainable. Mine was a 2 day difference though.

a quickie note about 'checklist letters'.

Look, if'n yer following LingChe, James or any EP wiki page -

YOU MUST REMEMBER -

NVC is set up, in various places within, to handle postal processing. Rules, Guidelines, Automated Systems were designed and are CURRENTLY in place to handle the 'postal processing rules'.

Mostly, if'n yer going fast - you ain't following the postal processing rules. FWIW, each thing at NVC (DS-3032, DS-230, I-864) has a turn around response time of 3 months . NVC postal processing rules loosely run for 9 months as well.

So, just remember - 9 times out of 10? That checklist letter response that you get? You've fallen out of the 'norms' of 'the internal rules' because you chose to 'go fast' at NVC; that checklist letter is wrong, erroneous. Triggered to send to you, alas, because of old, out-dated, antiquated rules. That triggering system is busted.

Going fast is fun, cool even - but make note of what I wrote, above.

Good Luck !

Cranky Curmudgeon Out!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No, it's the person filling out the form (joint sponsor) that puts their own name.

Actually #13 is referring to the sponsor (petitioner) and #15 to the household member contributing more income (her father, I believe). Both the sponsor and the household member have to sign the I-864A, it's different from having a joint sponsor, who would sign their own I-864.

Yeah, I didn't read any further than 13 and didn't see 15 headbonk.giflaughing.gif So, yes, you're correct, 13 is signed by the petitioner and 15 by the joint sponsor.

Quick question on the DS230 if I have to add an additional sheet with information is there a specific way the sheet must be set up or done?

On the form, make sure you write 'see attached sheet', or something along those lines. Then on the additional sheet, make sure you include in a footer: petitioner's full name, date of birth, beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number. Then, on the page, re-write the entire question (along with the corresponding number) from the form. Then write your answer below that.

See an example I uploaded here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/277271-couple-ds-230-i-864-questions/page__p__4222737#entry4222737
