Good Morning,

I am I-130, IR-5 petitioner. I am still waiting on NOA2 (hopefully early April) but want to prepare all documents for NVC in advance. So, for DS-230 I have to provide my (petitioner's)marriage certificate for the current and all previous marriages. However, I do not have my marriage certificates for previous ones. My question is, do I really need to send the marriage certificates or the divorce decrees (which I have) would be enough? Anyone with the same experience? I appreciate your help!

thanks Saylin, another person mentioned that since i'm sending 2010 tax returns and a 2012 pay stub there is no info for 2011??? what to do?? will that trigger an RFE? Should i just send my completed return and not my joint sponsors since her 2011 is not yet completed. I HATE TAXES :-)

Okay, please re-read my FAQ again. I'll repeat it here. You have two options for tax information for the AOS, either including the recent year (at this time that's either 2010 or 2011) OR including the last three years (which is 2008-2010 or 2009-2011).

If neither of you have 2011 taxes done yet, that's okay. Just send in either 2010 tax information or 2008-2010 tax information (from both of you).

The purpose of pay stubs is to prove CURRENT income, not past income, so of course it'd be for the current year, 2012. If you have them, send them.

And for what kind of tax information is needed, you have two choices for each year: either the tax return transcript (highly recommended) OR full tax return (1040, 1099, etc etc) as well as all W2s.

Hmm. You would think the current marriage certificate and then divorce decrees for previous marriages would be accepted. I'd suggest calling up NVC and inquire about this. And if you do, make sure you call AT LEAST five times. Operators will always differ in their answers, so don't just go with one operator's answer.

Also, I'm not sure if this is possible after a divorce, but can you go to the county's courthouse and request a certified copy of your previous marriages?

Can we get tax transcript at the local office?

I think you guys are making it way more complicated than it actually is.

1) You need Tax return transcript

2) You can order it by online here http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

3) or you can order by phone: Call 1-800-908-9946

4) You want the "TAX RETURN TRANSCRIPTS". (NOT "Tax account transcript")

5) Also it may come with copies of W2, so why not send those in also.

6) You should be able to get these from Local IRS office but I have not tried it. Couldn't hurt for your petitioner to just drive their and find out.

I have now learned that lot of the time, posting q's on msg forum and waiting for answer is not going to solve it. You just gotta get up and get it done in-person.

I agree if they can fax you, thats even better if not then going to the local IRS office and picking up is much better than Snail mail also.

I ordered mine last year. I think it took 2 weeks or so.

Recently ordered a fresh copies from online, so i can take it during coming up beneficiary's interview.
