USCIS Online Tracking

Hello everyone,

I filed a petition back in late October and received my NOA1 on Oct. 28th. I understand the average processing time is around 6-7 months. I was hoping for 5 months, but after looking the the statistics it does not look likely.

My petition is just at a bit over 4 months. My online "tracking" shows only that its at the "initial review" and that they have "received the petition." I notice a lot of people display something called a "touch", meaning someone has looked at their case or at least moved the physical file. Should I have a few updates by now?

Does the noa1 show in your tracking? It doesn't show in mine. Once your file is "touched", does that take the place of the whole "we received your petition" thing?

Many people go the entire wait without ever being "touched". During our K-1 the website updated 2 weeks AFTER we received the hardcopy of NOA-2. Some people go thru the whole process from USCIS to actually having the visa in hand without anything changing. Don't worry.

My NOA1 was received last Oct. 19, 2011.. until now, i am still waiting too.. it's nearly 5 months and hoping to hear from them soon. I really don't know what that "touch" means, too.. all i know is that, everytime i open the USCIS site to check on our status, it looks life Forever "Initial review." waiting is really the hardest thing to do i think..

Hoping and praying all of us will get through this smoothly and the USCIS to hit their 5-month process.

If you have signed up for your case with the USCIS website, when you check the status of your case, it will show you the last updated date. If your last updated date is different from the NOA1 date, it means that your case has been touched after you got your NOA1.
