Just arrived in the US last night and this morning my breakfast just wasn't the same without my KRAFT Peanut Butter!!!!!! I'm gonna have to bring it down by the 2kg jar from costco..lol. They apparently also don't have Silhouette yogurt  but then again, we all have to give up things to be with our loved ones....right!?

check the labels on peanut butter down here, some brands contain trans-fats for some inexplicable reason :P I buy Smuckers Natural now. Its just peanuts.

and check labels on yogurt, some have HFCS in them, and some have sooooooooo much sugars in them you might as well just eat a 5 lb bag for lunch :P I usually buy Breyer's Light, its got the least amount of sugars in it. Even the ones that are the same brand names as in Canada, different ingredients.

I still miss Shreddies *sigh*

Hmmmm. let me see... for me it would have to be the snacks:

1. Poutine!!!!!

2. KFC's chicken gravy (the KFC gravy in the States just doesn't measure up)

2. Cadbury Chocolate Bars (esp. Coffee Crisp & Flake)

3. Hostess Potato Chips (esp. ketchup, dill, and roast chicken flavours)

4. Sour Soother candies

5. Bassetts Licorice Allsorts

What am I going to do?????? Guess I'll have to have my Dad & Stepmom send me extra special shipments of whatever they can so I don't have any breakdowns.

my husband and I just discussed the shoes thing again. He's inherited his parent's house, which is all hardwood except for the den and downstairs bedrooms, which I hope to laminate (I dislike carpeting).

His mother seems to have had a slipper fetish. There's about 2 dozen pairs of them stuffed into the closets. I figure if I leave them at the doorways Japanese style, and tell everyone to remove their shoes, they won't feel so awkward showing off their feet. Or whatever it is that makes them keep their shoes on.

Now, if I could just get the dogs to wash before they come in from the yard!

As a USC with my husband in Canada - these are my favorites he's always enjoying that I can't have! (but LOVE) Canadian-Chineese Food, Fries & Gravy, Tim's Honey Crulers, Stronger beer, Pizza Delight, Irving Food, Moose, oh my list could go on and on!

Here's a "custom" that I would like Americans to adopt - removing your shoes when you enter a house. I found it strange at first, but now I wish everyone removed their shoes when they come to mine!

I agree with you on that one.

Everone at home always takes their shoes off. Down here noone does, and I am still trying to deal with that

I miss so much from home.

Apples- Gravistein, Russet, August Apples from my parents orchard.

I miss Canadian Chinesse, KFC homemade gray and fries, Donairs, New White Potatoes, Summer Savory for stuffing. I told my husband that I cant wait to go home and have some good food

I don't miss all those crappy canuck beers any more. Ex, Canadian, Blue, 50, OV etc. Sam Adams, Grolsh, Heiniken for me. Sure the Canadian Beers are generally better than Budweiser or Pabst but they are not all that great. Of course, there are independent brewries everywhere. The ones in Canada are no better than there US counterparts.

What I miss is the Bread and Cheese. I have to go to NYC to get decent stuff. Here we have only 1 or 2 brands that are edible. I miss peameal bacon, Mr Submarine, Timbo's, healthcare, relatively uncomplicated tax law, RRSP's, Gun control, and News that doesn't consider Neo Conservatism as a legitimate ideology.

'Oh don't bother taking off your shoes!!" But I take them off cause I don't want to mess their floors up....Go Figure.............................{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

My mother in law told me not to take my shoes off because my socks will get all dirty. I said my socks wouldn't get all dirty if everybody just removed their shoes at the door :P

I gave up trying to get people to remove their shoes now, but I swear if it ever did snow here, they'd change their habits!

I wonder if people would start talking about Joe's crazy Canadian wife if I put up a sign? :D

My Canadian wife has a small sign hanging on the outside of the back door that says -

"The floors are clean, the place is neat

Dammit, at least wipe your feet!"

She's a cool gal then

I miss peameal bacon too. Its soooooooooo expensive to order it from RealCanadianBacon *sigh*

I usually buy British imported beer around here. I've yet to see any Canadian beer here except Blue, which is just pony piss IMO :P And I do like Sam Adam's brews. We recently tried thier Oktoberfest brew, its pretty good, for a seasonal special.

I generally just like beer with some flavour in it. Mass produced stuff like Canadian, 50, Bud, Coors etc, just don't cut it. Not even for a cheap buz. In my experience, the cheaper the beer, the worse the hangover the next day :P I'd rather spend the money, than pay the price. If you follow
