PCC question

We are at the final stages of the NVC process. My wife went to the local passport office in New Delhi for the PCC and they said that they need some evidence for why the PCC is needed. They initially mentioned that they need a letter from the Embassy. Has anyone else had this experience? I am curious to know what is needed to get a PCC from New Delhi?

Also, is a local police clearance certificate still needed, or is it just the PCC? Many thanks for any help!

Here's what you should do. Go to google and type Passport Seva Kendra. It will open up a website, wherein you look for PSKs in Delhi. To make it easy for you, here's a list of PSKs in Delhi.

PSK GurgaonGurgaon

MM Towers, Plot No. 8 & 9

Phase IV, Udyog Vihar

Gurgaon - 122002

PSK Herald House - ITONew Delhi

Ground & First Floor, Herald House

5A, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg

New Delhi - 110002

PSK Shalimar PlaceDelhi

Aggarwal Auto Mall, Plot No.2

District Center, Shalimar Place

Outer Ring Road

Delhi-110088.

Landmark: Galaxy Toyota Showroom, Opp. Hotel Premier Inn(3 Kms from Madhuban Chowk towards Karnal Bypass)

Check the nearest PSK, for that's where you should be going for your PCC.

First, go to the website I mentioned. On the right hand side, you'll find online application filling. Create an id there and proceed with filing for a PCC online. You can choose an appointment date and time. Once this is done, on the day of the appointment, go to the PSK with a copy of your passport biographic page as well as the original passport. If the address on your passport is different from your current place of residence, you need to carry address proof with you. At PSK, the maximum wait time is less than 2 hours. When you leave, you'll have a Passport Clearance stamped on your passport as well as two Police Clearance Certificates with you.

This is all you need. You don't need to get any further PCCs from local police stations.

Good luck and many blessings!

Thanks for the quick response and for your help Divya. Some follow up questions here:

1) Just for clarification, the PSK should not ask for a letter from the Embassy, is this correct? With the PCC needed by the NVC to complete the case, I can't imagine how a beneficiary could get a letter before hand.

2) So basically once my wife gets this clearance, she does not need to go to her local police station, or are there any exceptions to this rule, based on your length of stay or address or something else? Or have the Embassy rules changed? I am wondering if this is only for Delhi where you no longer need to approach your local police station and can get all clearances from the passport office.

Again, I appreciate all your help. :)

I guess the reason for my confusion is that how could a local passport office issue a police clearance certificate, which ideally should come from the local police station based on a background check (unless the passport office has that capability as well). Again, I am not sure if the rules have changed but when I did this for myself many years back, I had to get two, one from the local passport office and for the second, I had to visit my local police station.

When you fill the application online, it will ask you why need a PCC. Since there's no possible way for you to get a letter at this juncture, you could perhaps ask your wife to carry the G-325A form copies with her, just to be on the safer side.... but from my personal experience, there are no questions asked. On your passport, they'll stamp the endorsement number, date on which it's issued, and for which country the pcc is issued.

PSKs are available in most cities now, though I've heard Mumbai doesn't have one yet. Also, you only need your passport clearance as well as pcc from the PSK, you won't need anything else. Also, let me just tell you that these documents are issued to you by the passport officer himself with his official seal as well as the ministry of external affairs seal, and your pcc is printed out on Ministry of External Affairs letterhead. So don't worry, just ask your wife to get it done this way.

There is one more option -

There must be an email that NVC has send you to provide documents to NVC for your wife.

Do you have it? She can take it to PSK... G-325A has lot of information that nobody should see. (My 5 cents)

Dont use G325-A it has lot of personal information and it does not show why you need PCC.

Just take the email from NVC, which shows you are applying for immigrant visa and PCC is one of the step required.

If you have PSK approach them, I think they are faster.

Agree that the NVC email should suffice.

As for PSK, they don't approach anybody. The visa officer at PSK has access to your database. On that, he can verify if there is any adverse information about you. Based on that is how they issue the PCC.

Yes, we do have the NVC email. Problem is with the scheduling of the appointment itself. Apparently, the window opens up at 6 PM every evening, there are 2-3 openings which get filled in like 2 minutes. The wife has been trying to schedule an appointment for the last 2 days with no luck. So frustrating!

Turns out that the PSK refused to issue the PCC because the wife hadn't changed her last name yet. So now she has to apply for a new passport under the Tatkal seva. So our process has now gotten delayed by another 2 weeks.

Very strange reason to refused to issue the PCC!!!

I applied for re-issue passport thru PSK under Tatkal, I got it in 48 hours in my hand. It just took 2 days! That is it! :)
