just recently filed on 1/26/2012 and recently completed my biometrics. I know that I must get my AP approved before leaving the country, however, I have a Wedding that I am in scheduled for May 4th in Jamaica. I know I must remain in the US until I am approved. I know that if I leave the US before that time, I will be considered to be abandoning my application.

Typically AP approval takes approximately 90 days, however, what if it isn't processed by then? Are there any alternatives to expedite the process because I already have the flight and hotel booked and paid for? Help! Thanks!

As most will tell you, it is not a good idea to make any concrete travel plans when dealing with the USCIS. That said, you can wait to see if the AP or GC arrives before your departure date. As that date looms closer, you can then decide when you need to make an INFOPASS appointment to see if they will issue you an I-551 stamp in your passport. That stamp is the same as the GC and will allow you to travel. Our AP took 46 days and the GC took 87 days last March-May. You may be cutting it a bit close.

Good luck,

Dave

my AP came exactly one month after my biometrics and many others do too. You should be OK for May!

Emergency AP is generally only given for emergency's :

Seriously ill family with proof.

Death in family with proof.

You could try making an info pass and asking for the stamp or faster processing but a wedding in Jamaica isn't considered an emergency. Hopefully you get your AP ahead of time and you can make your trip.

I appreciate everyone's responses!!

I have noticed that quite a few people have received their EAD approx 1 month after getting their Biometrics done, however, should I have to go the Infopass route. At what point should I try and set up an Infopass appointment knowing that I leave on May 4th?
