Hello,

Just wanted to post our AOS experience, hope it will be helpful for those of you here still waiting. My mom was here in the US helping us with our baby, and we realized, we need her to stay longer than 6 months (she was on B2 visa). So we decided to adjust her status to become permanent resident (I am US citizen). We filed I-130; I-485, I-131, and I-765 altogether in one package in mid October 2011. Everything went smooth, we did not receive and RFE or any other correspondence from USCIS. She got her work authorization and advance parole on 1/6/12. The interview notice came for 1/26/12 in Newark office. The interview itself lasted not more than 5 minutes. I was her interpreter and it was absolutely fine. She was asked only basic questions from I-325A like what's her name, address, why she wants to stay in the US, if she visited US before, etc. My mom grew up in Soviet Union, and she was a member of communist party (like everyone else), so she was asked to provide a written explanation about it. We wrote a couple of sentences stating that it was a part of regime at that time and every college student had to be a member of the party. That was it. No other question, super easy and smooth process, nothing to worry about. Altogether took us 3.5 months. Good luck with your case.
