6 months total from sending to poe. approved in 3 months and 3 weeks. is not so bad, seems long but is not that long

To the OP I really hope you are not "considering that" re: joining the military to have your petition expedited.

Because of the number of applications. The only way to make it faster is to pray that you get lucky.

Well, or qualify for an expedite. I'd stick to the first.. Better to join the waiting game than having an extreme hardship to overcome.

The service centers have ups and downs throughout the year, so sometimes it generally takes longer to process the petition during one season or month than the other. This is one of the reasons you might see different experiences with the processing time.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

Hi. I have a question regarding to K-1 visa time line.. On 02/20/2012 our attorney send in all of our paper work. I juts wan to find out have long it take before interview?? and if there is any way to make this process quicker?? I'm US citizen and my Fiance Ukrainian citizen

It recently took for us 7.5 months before filing petition and interview. 1 more week to get a visa. So, almost 8 months.

K1 Visa Timeline (06.28.2011 - 04.07.2012)

  • 06-28-2011: I-129F sent to Dallas
  • 07-05-2011: NOA1 (CSC)
  • 01-05-2012: NOA2 (184 days since NOA1)
  • 01-13-2012: NVC passed
  • 01-19-2012: Embassy received our case
  • 02-14-2012: Interview PASSED! :D K-1 Visa Approved! :D
  • 03-08-2012: POE
  • 04-07-2012: Wedding!

AOS/EAD Timeline (04.26.2012 - 12.13.2012)

  • 04-26-2012: I-485 and I-765 sent to Chicago Lockbox
  • 05-02-2012: NOA1 (both I-485 and I-765)
  • 05-23-2012: Biometrics taken
  • 07-02-2012: Employment Authorization Issued (07-09-2012 - received in the mail)

actually almost all march filers from last year got approved in 3-4 months. now it depends of the number of application of course, and time of year

9 months, almost to the day, between filing and POE (next Monday, woo hoo!!!).

I suspect this 9 month waiting period will repeat itself for us in the future....

You add an extra link to the process. A human link. He/she needs to do the exact same thing as you would. Preparing forms, mail, checking everything's fine. They might not be in a rush to look for an RFE or NOA2 everyday.

That's truth, I'm reader/poster of one of the RUB forums (not here on VJ) about immigration for more than a year, and I see that in most cases attorneys only make everything longer and slower and a lot of people wrote that they regret about decision to use attorney. If you have complicate case with some red flags, they can help you to prepare documents in a way which will decrease chance of petition denial, but if your case is typical, it's faster to get visa by yourself, without a lawyers.
