Any ideas on how to accurately reply to this RFE?

I hope you all can follow this.....

I posted a couple of days ago about the RFE my wife and daughter (step-daughter) received. We have the CS medical docs now so that takes care of that part.

The second document asked for in the RFE was a copy of my divorce decree showing it had been duly filed etc., etc. But here is my concern.

The RFE asked for a copy of the DD for the divorce between me (I'm not gonna use real names here), Sam Scott Jones and Mary S. Jones exactly that way. My ex's maiden name was Mary Ann Smith. When she married me, she started using the name Mary Smith Jones (Mary S. Jones). She was using here sir name as her middle name/initial.

On our DD it shows her name as Mary A. Jones. It uses her middle name initial instead of her sir name initial. So the DD shows Plaintiff: Mary A. Jones vs Sam S. Jones.

In the DD it also says "The maiden name of the wife, Mary Ann Smith, is restored to her".

The only place I know where they may have gotten her maiden sir name is from my G-325a when I filed the I-129F. Of course I sent this same DD in with the I-129F and had no issues.

So what do you think they will do if they see Mary A. Jones on the DD when they asked for Mary S. Jones? And what advice do you have for me, Please. Should I include a cover letter with some explanation to this??

I'd say to do a write up with the explanation you put here. Add copies of the DD with highlighting the pertinent places. Does the DD explicitly list the full names in question somewhere?

You would also have the original marriage license where hopefully the name change is noted and would include this in the response
