For what it's worth, the K-3 visa is basically dead, the consulates really have not issued K-3's in quite sometime now.

Don't bother with the K-3, it's a waste of time, money and patience. It only exists on paper, not in reality.

K-3 and CR-1 now have the same processing time. They get approved at the same time. When that happens, your K-3 end up in the NVC's shredder, and you apply for a CR-1.

Hello my friend..I arrived here in US last month under K3 visa. We filled the I-130 and I-129f February 2011, we got the notification from the US Embassy that our case is under K3 last week of August 2011, I had my medical September 2011 and waited for 2 months because of the Sputum test then had my interview on December 2011 and received my Visa January 2012...Overall our K3 process takes a year before I arrived in the US. Regarding your question if it takes a year, my answer is it's case to case basis and if you will have to choose between K3 and CR1 it's better to choose the CR1. When I had the interview last December they said that I am the only applicant that has the K3 case because they usually have CR1 or IR1. Just listen to what the 3 people here said about the K3. Good luck to you. :)

Yes, yours was one of the rare exceptions. Even more rare would be somebody who once informed, is actually happy they got a K3 visa. Do you know how your I-129F managed to survive? Was your I-130 approval delayed?

Hello! The I-130 has the same approval date as the I-129F. But the only difference is and I'm still wondering until now

is that they process the I-129F first, we are expecting that the CR1 will be done. Then when I already left Philippines then my family received a mail DS something from NVC. Until now I really don't know why.

Perhaps yours was on of the rare cases where, although approved the same day, the petitions did not arrive at NVC the same day. Do you know the respective NVC arrival dates?

Would you mind calling NVC and asking again? They'll tell you and the information would be very helpful to those of us keeping track of what's going on, in order to help others.
