I would not mind if you happened to start a thread about some political thing in Maryland and put some pics in there :D I used to live in Virginia (Arlington) and I know Maryland is beautiful too :)

Good idea WoM :star:

I've been here for three years now and I really love it here...and, I believe as BrotherLuckyTxn has said: we are blessed :innocent:

Blessings to Texas and Maryland and Virginia

We've gotten some good rains so far this year so the wildflower show should be spectacular around San Antonio and up into the Hill Country.

They still have the Blue Bonnet Festival? Black-eyed Susans in the picture, too. Blue Bonnets are still my favorite lupin.

They always have the Blue Bonnet festival. Always the Blue Bonnet is a fave but the Indian Paint Brushes bring back memories of when I was young. We would pull the red flowers off and lick the drop of nectar which was very sweet usually and taste like honey.star_smile.gif

Everything else is forgettable about Texas, except most parts of Austin, food and music in Austin, and people in Austin.

I also don't appreciate that TV, movies and novels lie about Texan cowboys and their supposed western boots and half-nakedness displaying six-pack abs.

Yep...it seems everyone hates Texas....guess that's why I've seen a huge increase in out-of-state plated vehicles driving 'round these here parts lately. Guess they hate the state but don't mind coming for the jobs!!

Myself, I'm the 'transplant' as my husband calls people that weren't born in Texas, but as the saying goes 'I wasn't born in Texas....but I got here as fast as I could' lol. I've been here 6mths now, and while I still miss my home country, I am very happy to call Texas my new home.

Personally, I love New Braunfels - ironic considering I hate the water lol. And San Antonio is also a favourite. Sentimental favourites maybe as they were the first places my husband took me to on my very first visit to the Lone Star state almost 3yrs ago. But still wonderful places to visit regardless!

Fort Bliss is on another planet and the rest of the El Paso area is like that. Half the time, you weren't sure if you were in the US, wall-to-wall Luftwaffe and NATO personnel and the locals, it was a nice place, though.

There is a famous movie quote about Texas, from the same movie as your handsome signature pic, did you know it? Why do people hate Texas so? Peace.:star:

Funny!

A Californian saying the only memorable thing about Texas is Austin-

That's like an American travelling to Japan, and saying the only memorable thing was McDonalds....

Interestingly enough, that line was actually recycled from a very similar scene in an earlier film, "An Officer and a Gentleman"... but was originally "about" Oklahoma (I guess any state known for cattle ranching would do):

It is an old put down and goes way back before either movie.

I consider it all part of Texas but know that west Texas and El Paso are different. Anyplace along the border is part of Mexico really. I also remember the drugstore cowboy craze. Glad that ####### is gone. Well the rodeo Houston is starting so a few weeks everyone is a cowboy. I will be going also to see ZZ Top play.

They decided Fort Worth was worth saving and have been spending a ton of money that way. I have a lot of trees all near Huntsville. Started to put it up for sell. Since I got married I am stuck on the coast it seems.

Oh man, I wanted see those guys before ole' Billy Gibbons checks out or decides no longer tour. Billy Gibbons can sure make that guitar talk.

I have a list of performers I want/wanted to see before it's too late, ZZ Top, BB King and Ray Charles. Well, I scratched Ray from the list long ago.
