How big was your oath ceremony when you took citizenship?

Somebody just described their oath-taking in LA and it sounds like a total and utter nightmare because they processed 6000 people at the same time and left them standing on the pavement for two solid hours before they even opened the doors to start the processing. For people who have already survived the process, how big, crowded, and lengthy was your ceremony, and where was it? I'm asking because I'm a)curious, b)have a disabled husband who would not be able to stand in line with me for anywhere near that length of time, and c)claustrophobic! You won't ever find me voluntarily joining a gigantic crowd for anything.

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.

Wow 6,000 that is huge. I had about 50 people and the process took the whole morning from waiting in line to the oath ceremony. It occured in New Jersey.

A couple of hundred people in the room I can handle, especially if it's a big enough one not to seem too crowded. An hour's wait I can handle. Much more or longer than that brings back all of my agoraphobic nightmares...

Fort Smith, Arkansas

- 15 new citizens

- about 25 adult guests and some kids (they have really cute patriotic colouring pages)

- ceremony started about 5 minutes late and lasted about 45 minutes.

They tend to be very good at accomodating the disabled, would your husband consider a walking frame or wheelchair for the day?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Houston has 1500-2000 new citizens each month from news reports I've read. Ceremony is in a school gymnasium looking facility. Sometime local TV or newspapers cover a ceremony and you can find info or video clips by googling 'citizenship ceremony Miami' and see what pops up in the search.
