It appears your ringleader is even unsure, wanna rethink your absolutist position?

After your search for God has been extremely limited, you are certain he doesn't exist in places you have never been to..... even with a telescope.

Think about that.

Think about this.

In his book "The God Delusion" he talks about this 7 point scale and ranks himself a 6.5.....The book was written about 8 years ago.

Here he is in 2006 saying he is a 6.5:

Now he is a 6.9 out of 7!!!! wow.gif

So you might want to fix your sub-headline. He didn't "Downgrade"....He "upgraded" rofl.gif

I understand why many people find their religion important. It saves them from having to face questions they can't handle. My only issue with religion is when people use religion as a basis to shape society beyond their own personal lives.

Hello Blessed Brother Dan J,

In my experience, the bolded part above has indeed forced me to ask myself some VERY difficult questions. After all, religion and faith is often 'hard work'!

However, I wouldn't think that the aetheist faces questions which are any less difficult.

Almost all people struggle with the great questions in life...

P.S. I would agree with your last sentence as well.

Blessings - B

Bishop, you really have class! I don't agree with you that God exists but I appreciate the high class way in which you conduct yourself. Now if we could just get some other believers in the almighty to have similar class the world would be a lot nicer place!

Hello Blessed James&Olya!

Thank you so much for your kind words...its a great start to a Monday and the week

Blessings - VJB

Dawkings prognosis of the future is also bleak. He notes that the way the world is headed will lead to calamity in the future.

Ruh Roh! Sounds like he might have been spending too much time in the Book of Revelations!

:blush::blush::blush:

Blessings to the thread, B

it'd be nice if some atheist had a little class too.

I am glad that he and the archbishop were able to approach the subject with respect.

+1, it makes the conversation so much more profitable. In a sense, both 'belief' and 'non-belief' are ideologies, human concepts (usually quite beautiful!) which describe something we can't put into words. And, a person who is overly bound to their ideologies is generally closed to simple dialogue. I, personally, love the structure of religion because it offers me platform from which I can live/critique my life, plus I believe in God. The 'religion' part can be difficult at times, but the believing in God is the simple part...for me at least. Its good to see people discuss with respect...

I like this quote from Thich Nhat Hahn, a Buddhist Monk, "Do not be idolatrous about or bound to any doctrine, theory, or ideology, even Buddhist ones. All systems of thought are guiding means; they are not absolute truth. If you have a gun, you can shoot, one, two, three, six people; but if you have an ideology and stick to it, thinking it is the absolute truth, you can kill millions."
