Hello all,

I am still it the process of gathering the I-129F package but I'm thinking ahead for the next steps and the Form I-134 is getting me worried. I am a full-time student and do not have a job. My fiance in France has a lot of money saved up and can support us when he comes. Is there anyway that I can indicate in the form that I will not be supporting him when he comes and that he can do it on his own? Is that even possible or should I start looking for some sort of a job while I finish school?

I'm so confused, please help

mmmm I think you need to find a sponsor. I'm in your same situation and I was told that in order to get approved we need to find a sponsor someone who makes enough money .It can even be a friend of yours.

Income and assets of the intending immigrant do not count. UNLESS he sends the money to you and you deposit it in an account in your name and claim it as assets. Assets are divided by three to determine their value for the I-134. If you are $10,000 short in the amount of income you need, you will need 3 times that in assets.

Otherwise get a co-sponsor

I agree with this 100%. The Beneficiary would have to transfer funds 100% into the Petitioners Account/Not a Joint Account. That kind of money for a Young Couple seems hard to have to me.

As Gary said: Even falling short of a lump sum into your Account would require a Co-Sponsor in which, yes. Assets could be used as well.

You have'nt even Filed the 129-F as yet. Your not working right now. It's not over, take your time. Don't quit school. Life is not that much of a hurry. Think like USCIS would think.

So technically I need to have $60,000 in the bank account to qualify? Hhhmmm ... I think that's doable with my fiance's savings and maybe help from both of our families. I do not plan to quit school, especially since I graduate in the summer anyway :). It's just my hurry is that we have never been apart for so long since we first started dating and that was for seven months of seeing each other every week and eventually living together. So when his visa expired and he had to go home, we were devastated and we have been trying to reunite again and finally get married.

Thank you for that suggestion, I think that might also be a good option for us. So if I were to get a sponsor, would I fill out the I-134 with the information of our co-sponsor? Or do I fill it about myself and just add the sponsor's information for the employment section?

Good luck to you too, its always good to know that I'm not alone :)

Again thank you all for your help.

Both you and the co-sponsor would fill out a I-134 and attach rlevent documents to each of your affidavits.

Thank you all for your help. Now one last question, does the co-sponsor have to be my family member or can it be a friend. Both my parents are unemployed right now so my best friend's mother agreed to sponsor. Will that work?
