hello need little help - advice anything.

Anyway here is my story. My fiancee arrived POE in Las Vegas on 01-31-12, tried to get SSN two days after her arrival, we filled up the form and everything, waited for at least an hour and finally they called her number, we gave the application to get her SSN, the guy who review the apps told us that she had two different names from her passport and to her POE. On the Passport her name is JANE DOE SMITH on her i-94 is JANEDOE SMITH ( her given name and middle name was put together as one whole first name) on her k1 Visa under given name is JANE DOE(there is a space in between). He told us to go back at POE to get a new I-94 with her correct name on it. So we went to the office on her POE and told the officer what SS guy told us. The POE officer told us that they cannot change her name on the system its a legal document. anyway they said to get married(which we did) and go back to SS and apply for SSN with her married name. Do you guys think that this is Gonna be another problem with us? Thanks!! in advance..

well -

lets see...

a SAVE database lookup was done at SSA office, they found her.

She has a name problem with SAVE.

SAVE database is first entered into at the POE, by a CBP goon. He/she fat fingered it, thus creating a SAVE database problem.

The guy at the POE for the 2nd visit was wrong.

I've written up 'how to fix' a few times - please use the 'advanced search' tool here -

search terms 'SAVE CBP'

Member Name -> 'Darnell'

then click on 'show as posts'

and read a bit.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I don't doubt Darnell's recipe for one second. However, I had it happen to me except it was my middle/last name that was misspelled - the letter Ø in the Danish alphabet turns into OE in the US but was apparently too much for the officer to handle so he had a typo.

Applying for SSN, they told me the i-94 didn't match what was in the system but they'd request to look into it and have it corrected. No-one at SSA can correct it but they can request for it to be corrected. I had my SSN in the mail a week after.
