Ok so I'm filling out the online drivers permit application and I get to a part where it asks what the visa class is. I thought CR1....but that's not an option. There's a C1 and an R1....So I figured C1. Choosing that makes me input an I-94 number, which there is not one since it is a CR1 visa.

Does anyone have any idea what I would choose in this section? There's a list of about 30 different visa types/class but none are CR or IR or anything like that.

Thanks in advance

Waiting for Issuance of Visa.........

Posted (edited)

He doesn't have a visa. He has a Greencard. His visa was good for a trip to the US to trigger his LPR status.

So what do I choose? Since he doesn't have the actual GC yet, but the stamp serves in place of it, how is that categorized in a visa class?

This is the message I'm getting:

You must have an I-94 in your non-U.S. passport to be eligible for any Massachusetts License or ID

Which doesn't makes sense because he does not have an I-94

No visa. Forget visa. Is there a choice of Legal Permanent Resident?

That must be because you chose somewhere prior that he has a visa. Go back some steps. No visa. Greencard.

Not at all. It asks for one of 2 things: SSN or Non US Passport #. I put the passport # in and the next screen asks if he has an I-94. I say yes and it asks for the number, I say no and it says he must have one. It's like a glitch or something. Or, maybe this is too complicated for the online process and I'll have to bring one in hand written.....ugggggggg.....20 pages later

Why not give the SSN? I am reading that he needs either SSN -OR- a visa with I-94 (this is for people that are not eligible for SSN). I'd wait until he has a SSN and go that route.

Yea I think you're right. He just received the receipt in the mail today stating he should receive the card soon so we'll go that route.

Thanks though for your help ;)
