Exactly !! If The US Government sucks so bad then feel free to STAY in Ghana !

Try going to a Ghanaian Embassy and see how organized and professional that place is operated. Does Ghana have a K1 Fiancé Visa program? NO, only the evil US has that program. Being allowed into the US to join a Fiancé is a PRIVILEGE, and one that not many countries reciprocate and offer to Americans (Including Ghana).

Every country have some sort of visa to enable fiance's be together ,and it's not necessarily a K1 visa, take note of that , every country can't adopt a K1 style , and more so the guy is talking about professionalism here , after all the K1 process is not free, so once you pay for something you have the right to criticize the service that have being rendered, the CO's are like customer service representatives and if their services are poor compared to other countries don't you have the right to voice your anger or opinion?

How did we get on this subject. Stay focused on the fact that as an American I deserve to be treated with respect when I walk into an American Embassy. The original poster is correct that does not happen in Ghana. By the way to get a visa for Ghana takes 5 days, $50 and a stamp. You have no interest in this conversation, that is why you are trying to turn it a different direction. We have an interest in bringing our families together. Please let us procede with educating the Ghanain immigrating family and not turn this into some political rant.

Political Rant?? Go back and READ some of the comments!

"They have no respect for Ghanaians and they can treat them anyway they like"

or

"That embassy was built with funds derived from the sweat and toil of Ghanians, no federal funds went to building that embassy"

Hmmm, and WHOM is making a political rant?? There were also a few comments denigrating US Dept of State personnel, and how poorly the US Government treats the Ghanian people.

I am a US Federal Employee and have worked extensively with the Department of State. They are extremely professional and hard working. Yes, there is the occasional rude employee, but that happens in all walks of life and does not represent the vast majority of DoS personnel. As far as "caring" - US Embassies and their personnel are actively involved in many countries (including Ghana) promoting health, education, welfare issues to improve the lives of the people of the host nation. Additionally, the US Government provides MILLIONS of Dollars in direct aid to Ghana and other neighboring countries.

Yes, I do have an interest when people bad mouth my federal co-workers who are not here to defend themselves. If you want to provide immigration advice, fine, but don't throw out unsubstantiated insults and make false and inflammatory statements about the US Dept of State and the US government. If one wants to RECEIVE respect one should begin by SHOWING respect.

i laugh at this because someone always have to be high and mighty. im not sure what stage you are in the process( if your finished congrats). you am hoping have some experience with how emotional is already without having to add things like this to. im not attacking america as a whole( my husband to be his life on the line fighting for that country), just that consulate, so i woldnt do that because with all the problems have i would still feel defensive if someone attacked my count. This is my experience, i was annoyed about it especially after waiting 7 weeks and if you don't think my emotion is reasonable then thats you, me and you my darling are not the same people

i wasnt disrespecting the whole country as a whole( i would never do that as my soon to be husband put his life on the line fighting for that country and i wouldn't insult him by insulting a land he loves so much) so if thats what offended you sorry but i was frustrated as this process has been very emotional and ready for it to end. i dont know how far you are in the process but you should understand. This was my view of that particular CONSULATE and you dont have to agree because me and you are not the same people. My fiance flew down here so we can travel together then had to return without me because our visa pick up date was seven weeks after our approval date and now this so sorry if i wasnt all cheery. second if you can get my hunny to agree to leave the Navy and move to ghana id id gladly stay here. I am a very established woman in my country and im not in a rush to flee my country like most think about everyone not living in the US, i just happen to fall in love with an American

Who have respect from Vietnamese anyway?, you think you can just come up here and denigrating someone because he or she is trying to stand up for his or her right? your point is totally stupid and you don't have any business commenting on the the originally post in the first place, Do you think all people from Ghana are desperate to come to the US, my fiancee is begging me to come, its because of love and happiness that is why people are ready to sacrifice everything just to be with their love ones and that does not make embassy look upon them. I think you are just stuck in your hallow thinking .This forum is very peaceful and we are all here to help and share common problems and find away out, so why are you trying to provoke a colleague?

What are you talking about. Speak to a subject that you have some knowledge about. Move on to another forum, that has something to do with you and your issues and allow us that have had EXPERIENCE with Ghana the Embassy and the country deal with this one.

Huh? Is this supposed to make any sense, or have you now resorted to race baiting?

Again, it was you that came onto this forum denegrating the personnel of the US Consulate in Ghana by calling them incompent (who exactly is being high and mighty?), and then denegrating the Untied States as whole with inflammatory and baseless statements. I suspect you were rude to the consulate personnel, and recieved the same in return. Again, respect given, respect returned.

Have a good day

You have missed the entire point. I guess it's because THIS FORUM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! Thank you for recognizing that and going away.

Your posting in the "K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports" forum which is for everyone.

If you want to have a regional whine-fest then you should have posted this topic in the regional forum. :bonk:

Wow... I sincerely hope you won't, but you might very well change your mind on the "respect given, respect returned" phrase when you're at the interview stage. You're not going through an easy consulate either, and I'm afraid you'll see the work of DOS another way by the end of the process.

Best of luck to everyone.

This is not my first turn through this process. As already stated I have worked directly with DoS personnel for many years and find them to be kind, professional, and respectfull. The CO's have a difficult job and put up with tons of complaints, with very few compliments. They do this same task day in and day out with no light at the end of the tunnel and giving them a kind word and a little respect will go a long ways. Yes, I am going to pass though a difficult consulate and I am doing everything possible to prepare. Part of the process is to realize the burden of proof is ON me, and realizing that the CO is just doing his job to the best of his abilities and that his actions are NOT personal. If I do run into a roadblock I will take measures to mitigate and move forward, but those measures do not include blaming the CO/DoS or whining about how unfair I was treated.

You are right,It's a privilege, and that does not mean people enjoying privileges like this needs to be disrespected including you. This person who initiated this topic was just commenting on how he was treated badly. That does not really mean all the people working at the embassy are of the same behaviour. If you read other posts you will equally realize that this is not just in Ghana ,it is hapening every where abd there are others who felt they were treated with respect.

So i will urge you to always watch the way you talk to others here please It is just a site of sharing ideas and.If you will read everyone's post under this topic, nobody sounded like the way you did even if they disagree. Together we can change the world.

Perhaps you should address that same thought of civility to the OP that titled this thread "The Ghana consulate is incompetent"

or perhaps the racial bating/racist comment that said "Who have respect from Vietnamese anyway?"

I appreciate you speaking in a civil manner, but have to ask if your advice only applies to those "not" from Ghana?
