I wanted to know what does packet 3 or 3.5 or 4, which ever is received after the approval of I-129f, contains. What are the documents in it? Second, what documents does the beneficiary or the petitioner needs to prepare? I think the petitioner needs to fill out I-134 for K-3. Now if the petitioner's income is not above the poverty level or if she is unemployed then can there be a joint sponsor. I saw I-864 and I-864a joint sponsor form but there is nothing like that for I-134. How can we deal that. I am particularly concerned with the cases done by Montreal Consulate or of people living in Canada. Thanks

I-134

Be sure to use their forms. Montreal is very picky about using the forms that were included in your Packet 3

Be sure to read the instructions on those forms carefully. There are example forms here at VJ to look at as well. You can download these forms from Department of State if you want to practice

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Shakil,

'Packet 3' is an obsolete term (the packet system is long gone) that refers to the visa application forms, instructions, and associated information sent to a K-visa applicant by a consulate.

'Packet 3.5' is the various visa application materials sent to an immigrant visa applicant by the NVC. Depending on the country involved, some or all of the visa application materials will be handled by the NVC rather than the consulate.

'Packet 4' is the visa interview information.

A person who will sponsor a K-visa applicant will use I-134, if an affidavit of support is asked for, whether you want to call such person the sponsor or a joint sponsor. (The financial requirements for non-immigrant visas do not address the issue of multiple sponsors.)

I-864A is not for a Joint Sponsor, it is used by a Sponsor or Joint Sponsor and their participating Household Member.
