Hi there Vietnamese VJers,

Has anyone attempted to contact the HCMC consulate by email or by phone? What's the response time for them to reply back to your email inquiries? And what about calling them?

Any insights into this would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

This is taken from experience. The Embassy DOES NOT want you calling them for status updates or I guess anything related to that. They will tell you to email them with the following info listed. If you don't do the requirements, then I am not sure if they will respond.

- HCM case number or CIS receipt number

- Petitioners’ name and date of birth

- Beneficiary’s name and date of birth

- Mailing address and telephone number

- Your full name

After I emailed them I got an response within 2 days.

Adjustment of Status Journey

July 05, 2012: Sent package off to Chicago

July 13, 2012: NOA received via email & text

July 16, 2012: Checked cashed

July 19, 2012: Received hard copy Form I-797C in the mail

July 21, 2012: Biometrics letter arrived by mail

July 31, 2012: AOS trransferred to CSC

Aug. 07, 2012: Biometrics completed

You can't discuss your case with anyone at the CONSULATE... via the phone... I actually got someone on the phone one time when I got a number and she got pissed that I was able to get to someone inside the wall of messages... You can email, but there is a 50/50 chance that you will get a response that is not canned... emailing is worth the few minutes it takes to send.. send too many and they will start o ignore all emails from you.

My fiance asked them a question and heard back in 4 or 5 days if I remember correctly.

Sent email to HCMC consulate Jan 12 2012 receive reply Feb 6, 2012. Sent email Feb 16 10am re: address change got auto response 2pm Feb 16, as of Mar 4 I have gotten no reply.

May 29, 09, had attorney send I-129F to USCIS

June 3, 09, USCIS received I-129F

June 4, 09, USCIS I-797C, 1st NOA notice date.

Aug 28, 09, USCIS sends I-797E NOA. RFE requesting further evidence we have met within 2 years prior

Sept 3, 09, I sent updated RFE info to USCIS

Sept 8, 09 USCIS receives my info

Sept 11, 09 USCIS sends I-797C NOA--I-129F Petition approved, also forwards petition to NVC

Sept 23, 09 NVC receives approved I-129F from USCIS also forwards petition to consulate in HCMC

Dec 4, 09 Interview at HCMC Consulate, Blue slip, timeline, ex's address, medical results from Cho Ray

Jan 4, 10 Turned in timeline, ex,s address. White slip, 221(g) for lack of medical results. AP pending results.

Jan 4, 10 Cho Ray diagnosis--class A active multi drug resistant tb. Treatment time 18 to 24 months.

Jan 6, 10 I email consulate re: what do we do next, since K1 expires Jan 10, 10.

Jan 13, 10 Consulate replies--They have received all requested documents and the case is pending a CO review

Since the case is pending due to treatment of tb, the case is still active until treat-

ment is complete provided we contact the consulate every 6 months and notify

them she is under treatment to keep the file in open status.

Jan 14, 10 to July 2012 we wait.

July 2012, visa issued.

Aug 2012, Marriage in US.

Regarding the email I sent Feb 16, 2012-- I got a response from the consulate march 11, 2012. A little over 3 weeks. Nicole had an address change in HCMC. I informed the consulate via email, no forms or anything, and they said updated her address. I hope they did.
