Hey Leatherneck. Is there a marine base that you know of in Twentynine Palms? Some Marine or a guy claiming to be a Marine said he needed gas money to get back to base and I got him enough fuel to get there and let him super size his meal I got him. He has the 'high and tight', Tags, and even a emblem of the Marines on his back window, and offered to call his Sergeant. I came back to the truck and looked at my Atlas and can't see a Marine base there at all but if real small it wouldn't show.

Yes there is a HUGE training base in 29 Palms! That would be a real Marine you're describing to me. It's safe!

Holy ####### just found it. It is in the middle of the frigging Mojave Desert. I hope it is vehicles training out there and not people. Insane place for a base. I broke down in the middle of summer once not too far and it was a 130 degrees. 3 hours later I was almost insane.

Heard of it but had no idea where it was. I looked it up on google by Fort Irwin. Damn. Is a Fort really needed in Death Valley?

Seems crazy to put a Fort in the Mojave Desert, yet some yahoo(s) did exactly that.

Guess that dirty and sand was cheaper than a nice pretty place near the ocean, say like Camp Pendleton.

If I remember right, Fort Irwin was where we kept our 'Soviet Forces' we used for training purposes. They were supposed to be pretty good and they were hard to defeat.

Yes they were pretty hard to beat. Many a times we lost to them during training.
