Congrats to Sergey and you guys too.

As you know just being in the area, with NASA and all the other industries, will do nothing buy yield many opportunities.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Congrats!! Rice is an excellent school! My husband is graduate of U of H...but you'd think he was UT the way he loves his Horns lol. And yes, I'm sure he will be very happy with the winter here. I'

Actually I appreciate the thought, Darnell. I hope you are not referring to WOMEN. He has a very nervous Russian girlfriend about to enter into a 2-3 year LDR with him. Do any of the 5 drink?

Congrats!!

Rice is an excellent school! My husband is graduate of U of H...but you'd think he was UT the way he loves his Horns lol.

And yes, I'm sure he will be very happy with the winter here. I'm sorry - what winter? It was 80F here today lol

18 Apr 2011 - APPROVED!! NOA2 text and email

NVC

29 Apr 2011 - Case entered into the system/Case number assigned; Medical Exam in Sydney

30 Apr 2011 - Police Check Application sent

2 May 2011 - Called NVC and got Invoice ID number

3 May 2011 - Sent DS-3032 email

4 May 2011 - Received email reply from NVC for DS-3032; Received Medical Exam results

5 May 2011 - AOS invoiced and paid

7 May 2011 - AOS package sent; IV invoiced and paid

9 May 2011 - AOS package delivered to NVC according to tracking

20 May 2011 - RFE for missing IV package....still waiting on Police Certificate!

24 May 2011 - Received Police Certificate after 25 days (so much for 7-10!); IV package sent

27 May 2011 - IV package delivered according to tracking

8 Jun 2011 - RFE for original marriage certificate; requested supervisor review since we KNOW it was in the package!

30 Jun 2011 - SIF and CC - FINALLY!!!!

13 Jul 2011 - Interview date assigned! Scheduled for August 9th @ 10am

9 Aug 2011 - Interview - APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 Aug 2011 - Visa in hand

Not just the Space center but every Aerospace industry has offices next to NASA there. Sergey will be getting offers from them all. I am sure the proud Dad will help him on how to handle the offers. Like never accept any first offer. Play hard to get. That type of stuff.star_smile.gif

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Maybe there's such a thing as too much celebration, but glad to hear he's off to school where he wants to be. I only hope in Texas they allow conceal carry on campus. "Gun Free Zone" universities are where crazies go to they're "shooting range."

Rice has an excellent shooting team. The National Skeet Shooting championships are in San Antonio and I used to go every year and enter and made a valiant effort to win :lol: Rice was always well represented. So I am guessing they have some access to guns.

Having one daughter who just graduated last year and another one going into her junior year, this is how it will play out.

1. Hi mom and dad. Let me show you the campus. Have some extra cash?

2. thanks for dinner, gotta go now.

3. Don't even think about hanging out with me or my friends. You go shopping ( or whatever) and I will see you later. If you go to the beach stay at least 1/4 mile away from me.

4. Thanks for visiting. Have some extra cash?

Once he is hooked up with friends, and comfortable with life down there, don't expect a lot of conversation.

This is part of leaving the nest. It hurts but it's a good thing.
