I Know that this question might have been asked a million times on this forum but I would like to ask anyways stating my specific circumstances.

I'll be traveling to Brazil on March 6th and my flight is booked with American Airlines, the problem is My reservation is under my married name just like on the Permanent resident card and Drivers license but my Brazilian passport still has my Maiden name om it and it is extremely difficult to change with the Brazilian consulate since they don't recognize an American Marriage licence as a Name change document, the only way to have it changed would be to both me and my husband to go to Miami(we live about 10 from Miami) and get a Brazilian marriage licence then have the name changed on the passport.

Anyways did any of you have any experience with AA travel and name differences, should I just bring the marriage licence and explain that is not possible to change my name on the passport, will i be able to fly?

Thank you.

When you are traveling TO Brazil you should be okay since you're a Brazilian citizen and hold their passport. However, traveling from Brazil to US may be another story -- one that I don't have enough knowledge of.

Employment based case:

Pending since 08/2006 ~ WITHDRAWN on 12/01/11, forwarded to local office on 01/10/12

Family based case:

05/31/11 ~ I-130 & I-485 & I-765 & I-131 Packet received by NBC

06/09/11 ~ NOA received from NBC

06/17/11 ~ Biometrics letter received for appt date 7/11 (ASC: Woodside, NY)

06/20/11 ~ Walk-in biometrics done

09/13/11 ~ EAD & AP Approved

11/09/11 ~ Interview

12/28/11 ~ I-130 approved

01/26/12 ~ I-485 service request opened

01/30/12 ~ Contacted senator

02/07/12 ~ I-485 approval email

02/10/12 ~ CPO email

02/11/12 ~ Welcome notice received

02/13/12 ~ Card mailed

02/16/12 ~ Card received!

From the many experiences I read on VJ, your ticket needs to be booked with the name on your passport. Traveling with your marriage certificate will prove name change to U.S. authorities on the way back.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Bring a copy of your marriage certificate to show the name change. American Airlines will likely require that you show your green card before leaving as well. That is what happened with us. They wanted to know that we had the ability to re-enter the USA. A friend of mine had a similar situation and was fine with showing her marriage certificate as proof. My husband and I flew AA recently to Brasil. At the airport, the passport was scanned by a computer which automatically generates the boarding passes. As his name on the passport is very long, the boarding pass would not fit all of the letters, so there was a discrepancy and it didn't want to print the passes. The agent came over to help us, and said that this kind of thing happens with Brasilian names all the time. She just entered some code, and everything was fine. The airlines are used to dealing with this kind of thing. Have a good trip! By the way, you can register your marriage at your local consulate and then take that document to Brasil to register your marriage there. Probably the consulate would accept that as a name change document. I'm not positive on that, but you could contact them and find out. If you live far from your consulate perhaps there is a way to do it by mail. I know our consulate requested us to come in person, so you'll have to see with them.

Actually, I think it would be better to call American Airlines first and check with them. I was thinking in terms of going through security where you can use your state ID which would match the name on your ticket, but since the ticket counter where you check in will require your passport in order to board the flight, there may be some concern with the names not matching.
