Hi there,

Everywhere I read it says that I have to wait until the DS-3032 to be GENERATED before it can be sent in to NVC.

What exactly gets GENERATED? is it the DS-3032 Form itself? or the BARCODE that you place on top of it?

According to LingChe NVC shortcut guide, once you receive the case number you can go to the barcode website and enter the case number to generate the barcode which corresponds to the case number.

Print that and cut and paste it on top of the form then scan it to email it to NVC.

Anyone, correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're right but it seems there is an easier way of doing it in is by sending the DS-3032 using an email template and from the beneficiary's email account. These procedures are so freaking confusing. Gosh!

You have to wait for the NVC to enter it into their system because you have to include the case number that will not exist until they do.. The number in your case will be BGT2012######

Here is the email I sent in (from my wife's email account and with personal information changed) after the NVC had us in the system and it worked fine:

---

To whom it may concern:

My name is <Wife's Full Name> and my visa case# is BGT2011######. Per the DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent for Immigrant Visa Applicants), I would like to appoint my spouse as my agent of choice to receive all future correspondence from the U.S. Department of State. My spouse’s contact information is provided below:

Name: <My Full Name>

Address: <My Full Address>

Phone: <My Phone Number>

Email: <My Email>

All mail from the U.S. Department of State concerning my immigrant visa application should be sent to the address above.

If you have any questions or concerns on the above matter, please do not hesitate to contact me at <Wifes Phone Number in Colombia> or at the address specified below.

Thank you,

<Wife's Name>

God Bless You! I have finally found a straight up answer to my question. Would you mind if I add you as a friend? and maybe I can shoot you questions every now and then? You have just gone through the entire process with your Colombian wife so you must be very well versed in all the Colombian proceedings.

Just one last question though, looking at your timeline from the time your case was completed at NVC it took almost 2 or 3 months for your interview? why so much time?

Thank you so much!

Sure feel free to add and shoot questions.. I still have this end part in memory :)

Unfortunately on the 2-3 months question: that is the norm with CR-1s scheduling in Colombia... If you finish NVC before the 15th it gets scheduled 2 months out, if it is after the 15th it goes to the third month out. There were problems at the NVC when I got my NOA2 so it was taking a month from NOA2 to NVC - That I think is in the past so you should be in within a week or so.
