All the shipping companies I know of oriented towards shipping of balikbayan boxes are one way -- USA to Philippines. How do we go the other way? It would be good if we could ship all her clothing that won't fit on the plane, somehow. She's in Mindanao.

LBC ships to US. Also, there is a place called Johnny's Cargo, but I'm not sure if it's in your area.

Or from a post I read somewhere else:

Contact Manila Forwarder as they ship inbound and outbound at this link http://www.manilafo rwarder.com/ imexport. html The company also offers balikbayan box services from the Philippines to any point in the United States for about $150 plus other fees per standard balikbayan box.

MY wife brought as much as she could get on the plane, returned over a year later full of gifts and is returning with other bags stuffed. Other wise the best priced shipper vs speed. We also discussed the slow boat from China, belongings not my wife.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Manila Forwarder USA Corp and Manila Forwarder Phil, Inc handles both in-bound and out-bound shipments of commercial goods and household effects.

CBP - What are considered "personal effects"?

Personal effects are items that belong to and are used by one person, such as wearing apparel, jewelry, photographic equipment and tape recorders. They cannot be entered as household effects.

CBP - Moving to the U.S. - Timeframe allotted to move household and personal effects to the U.S.

You do not have to bring your household and personal effects into the United States all at once. However, in order for you to import them duty-free, you should not wait longer than 10 years. After 10 years, the only way they may be imported duty-free is if you can provide the Port Director with an explanation of unavoidable circumstances, which made it impossible to import them within 10 years. Under no circumstances can they be imported duty-free if 25 years or more has elapsed, since the last arrival into the U.S. from the country in which the effects were used.

God Does for those who do for themselves..!!

Thanks for the links, but I'm confused by the document about moving personal effects to the USA. I don't see how we can do all that stuff in there... the shipper takes the stuff with whatever form needed to be filled out, then it arrives at doorstep a long time later. When do we get to fill out forms and interact with customs in all this? The shipper needs to handle all this, as no one is flying to the airport to meet the shipper and deal with customs.

It might be cheaper to buy her all new stuff here. She can give away the rest of her stuff to friends and family. That will save the cost of shipping it all back in Balikbayan boxes later. It's been five years, and my wife would be hard pressed to find anything left that she brought with her from the Philippines.

While that's a possibility, the rates for cargo are good enough to make it worthwhile. When I've shipped old clothing TO the Philippines, I could normally get about 50 items of clothing into the box, for $107. Assuming each item is worth an average of $20, that's $1000 worth of stuff shipped in a $107 box.

Besides, so looks so incredibly sexy in most of the clothing she owns that I really want that same clothing here so she can continue the sexy.

After about 6 months, you will have to buy new sexy anyways--the old sexy won't fit--guaranteed! Even with public transportation in the Philippines, she was probably walking several klick's a day, just getting around. Here, you are going to be her personal chauffeur. If you ever pay attention to the flights leaving the US, compared to the flights arriving in the US, the departing passengers definitely look better fed.
