I disagree although you may be correct in the result. I think the Repubs will ADD tax cuts, the Dems will reject it and the Repubs will say the Dems would not cut taxes. That would backfire, but what is the alternative?

It is an election year, Obama wants to get re-elected, the Repubs do not wat him to usurp their "game" It is a no win for the Repubs. Pass it and Obama gets creidt and re-elected, turn it down and the Repubs get in trouble for not supporting tax cuts. The best they can hope for is to insert some sort of "poison pill" and get Obama to reject it. Myself, being neither Dem nor Repub just want tax cuts on businesses that create jobs.

That's right, another no-win situation for the Republicans. I think the Republicans would be well advised to realize that the game Obama pulled them into isn't checkers, it's chess. Slowly but surely many moves the administration made over the past couple of years begin to make sense - at least politically.

Anyone here who thinks that the oil companies are going to lower the price of gas if they get a tax cut doesn't know the oil companies. You raise the taxes on oil and they will raise the price of gas. You cut their taxes and they won't raise the price of gas right away, but chances are they won't lower it either. It's all about profits.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Thats true of any corporation - supply and demand determine price. In the current situation its the fear of future supply.

Yeah the republicans will support it, they broke down quickly on the payroll tax. If they had fought it too harshly they would be crucified next election.

Except forever we have been told it is not a "tax", that it is a contribution, and in fact the "payroll tax" IS the only source of funding for Social Security. And Dems have told us how many times we cannot afford a tax cut, and then cut contributions to SS and call it a tax cut... Election year politics are just too wacky sometimes.

But THIS is why we need the FAIR TAX, we have to get this gamesmanship out of the fuding source for the government.

Predictably, Obama is going to fudge the numbers everywhere. He cannot run on his reord because it stinks, except for killing Muslims which he is very good at.

Stop extending unemployment and all those people whose benefits run out are taken out of the equation and VOILA! Unemployment drops. It doesn't really, just the number of people who CAN file drops and to hell with them. They don;tlook good for him anymore so they get thrown under the bus. The tax cut tricks. But I have a feeling this pipeline game is going toblow up here pretty soon and he may have to throw the environmental wackos under the bus sooner than planned, not a problem since he started raking in Super PAC cash. Announcing the pipeline would kick the legs out of this stupid speculative market. Oil inventories are at all time highs, productionhas been increased and there is no reason for the price to be so high except greed and speculation. If Iran goes to war, with anyone, it has to sell oil to pay for it. The oil price will drop. But people are too stupid to remember the oil price during the Iran-Iraq war...less than $10 per barrel.

Also the Repubs unfailingly fall for this contraceptive type BS and go running off the cliff chasing condoms to protect the virtue of the good little Catholic girls.

Oh well, I can't vote for anyone left in this mess anyway, I am not one to hold my nose and vote for for piece of trash or another.

Out of anyone in this country who is it that you can vote for. They don't have to be running or not but at least alive.star_smile.gif

Penn Jillette.

I would have voted for Cain if he made it. Black men cannot become President though.

Yeah I've decided not to vote this year, its pointless. Last election I voted for Barr but thats clearly just a wasted effort.

I voted for Barr also. I will probably vote for the Libertarian again which, I know, is actually a vote for Obama, but I will not vote for anyone currently running in either of the major parties. It is all the same with a D or an R after the name. I would just as soon not change jackasses in mid stream.
