Signature on DS-3032 and DS-230 for NVC

Good Evening VJ Friends,

I have a couple of questions after reading the NVC Shortcut Guide at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

SITUATION:

I (The Petitioner located in FL) do have in my possession the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) and the DS-230 (IV Application) forms all filled out and ready to go (I printed them off the DOS website).

Now, the PROBLEM is the Signatures that go on them because they are to be signed by the Applicant (My wife who is currently in Colombia), again I'm the Petitioner and I'm in Florida. I do also need TWO passport photos of her to accompany the DS-230. I do have ALL the rest supporting documentation already with me.

QUESTIONS:

1. While NVC receives my I-130 Package from USCIS (it was approved yesterday) and it is enter in their system, Can I go ahead and send the DS-3032 and the DS-230 filled out forms to my wife in Colombia for her to sign? or ...

2. Do I have to wait for these forms to be generated by NVC? ... (I am NOT referring to the Barcode Sheets that are generated by NVC, but rather the forms themselves)

3. Are the ones I have and the ones they generate the same? Does NVC generate the forms for me to fill out? or Do they just generate the barcodes?

If the forms I have work, then I could send them to my wife, have her sign them, and return back to me along with the photos (while NVC does its magic), so this way when the barcodes are generated, and all bills shown as paid I would have everything ready to ship out.

Am I in the right track? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hi there,

I have just undertaken this part of the process so I can help you I hope, Here goes:

1. Technically No, the DS-3032 requires her signature and Barcode from your payment, However below may speed this up

You can now call the NVC # 603-334-0700, go through the automated steps and enter your USCIS reciept #, it will give you some info, an NVC # such as DBL XXXXXXXXXX. It may say that your AOS Bill ($88) is ready for payment,

Have your wife fill out the info on this template for DS-3032:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

and email it to the email address provided. I got a response after 2 days.

(Being the 'nerd' that I am I would have her send a printed version of the DS-3032 also with signature and mail it to you along with the DS-230 just in case the email doesnt work, but I imagine it will)

Also Have your wife print and fill out the DS-230 and mail it to you with all the supporting docs required Birth Cert, Police Cert etc and sign it (Part 1 is normally signed Part 2 is filled but not signed depending on Columbian Embassy if its Standard or Appointment post processing, check the website i listed directly below for this info)

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3734.html

(You should have gathered your I-864 (AOS) forms, tax info and docs and be ready to send them in now once the 1st bill has been paid.(Yes, You are basically on 2 separate Visa tracks at the moment.)

They will respond to you by email and you can also check via the website, here is a quick link when you have received your Invoice number from your first bill, you can enter it here along with you NVC # and see when your 2nd bill is due. ($404 i think?):

http://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/

click on fee payment under the Immigrant Visa Heading

When you pay the second bill you can then send the DS-230 once it arrives from Colombia.

2. You can prepare these in advance but they need her signature.

3. The barcode situation is sketchy to me I didnt quite grasp the uick guide generator thing, to be honest Id just use the barcodes generated by the payments to be safe, that is purely my opinion. You must send the cover sheets that are provided on the bill payments site so make sure and put these on you I-864 and on her DS-230 when it arrives before you send them in.

Yes she should include 2 passport photos to the US reqs. signed and dated on the back i believe

I wouldnt waste any time sending her the forms, just send her the link to them and have her print them and send them to you.

i hope this helps, sorry I was writing as quickly as possible so feel free if you have any question about what I have written just ask.

Check my timeline also, it was very quick this part so far once I had the DS-230 in the US signed, thats the most important thing

Cheers

The DS-3032 can be sent via email (but it must be your wife's email account).. I logged into my wife's account and sent a properly formated DS-3032. No need for signatures... but you must wait until the NVC gets your case entered and gives you a number. They will then send you an email - then you can send in the DS-3032... shortly after that they fees will be generated for you to pay.. once the payments are processed the bar-code sheets can be printed and the rest of the paperwork sent in.

The DS-230 needs her signature, they will not generate the form for you, they only generate the bar-code header sheet that you send in with the DS-230 and other required docs.

You will not save much time trying to create your own bar codes. Once you pay the two fees you will be able to generate the bar codes from the NVC site. The main thing is to have the rest of the paperwork ready to go.

BTW: Way to go with that 30 day NOA2 :)

Thank you! Do you recommend I sent my wife a filled out copy of the DS-230 and have her sign part 1, and return back to me? That way I can be ahead of the game and have that last thing ready once all bills show as paid

For sure.. If you can scan a copy and send her a PDF by email.. she can get it printed, sign it, and then mail it back.. Fastest and cheapest way to go..

Thanks! One last question and I leave you alone for the night ... sorry ... The most current DS-230 form has an expiration date of 2/29/2012 ... should I wait for a new one to come out?

no, no worries on that. They often accept forms going back several versions and sometimes the latest form is well past the expired date.... no possible way you will have a problem with that form.
