Hey Everyone!!!! So as you guys can see on my timeline my husband and I got married on Valentines Day (1,2,3..awwwww lol).

Once I got to the US, we decided to take a well deserved break from all the immigration, forms etc to focus on my pregnancy.

Well, now I am 31 weeks pregnant, married and ready for everything that is gunna be coming our way in the next few months! (sorta haha)

I was thinking that I wont really have the proper time once we have our little bundle in April so getting a head start on forms seemed like a good idea!!

But getting to the point....is it REALLY necessary to send away for Advanced Parole?? I do not plan on leaving the US in any coming years so was thinking about just leaving that part out.

Opinions?? Thanks in advance!!

First of all, congrats on getting married and of course congrats on having a baby! I didn't send anything for advanced parole as I knew I wouldn't use it. So if you are sure you are not going to need it, then save yourself the extra paperwork and pick out baby clothes - or something :P

No not necessary but it's a simple form and good in case you have an emergency (you don't have anything PLANNED but something could come up). The fee is waived when filed with AOS so it makes sense.

What if your mum dies suddenly? Or your sister/brother? If you're okay with not returning for a major crisis, then don't apply. It's free and it's an easy form.

Really? I never knew that. And just to be sure this is the document that allows the fiance to travel outside the US right? (The I-131.) Are there any other fees that are waived in the whole AOS process? We were planning to pay each one separately and just sure that they would have happily taken our money. Where can I go to find this information just in case it should change before we get to that point?

Thanks for your help.

Buy one, get two free.

With the AOS fee you get the employment authorization and Advance Parole free. They historically process faster than the AOS, but like everything in immigration the times vary. Once you get the greencard, you won't need the other two.

Here's my AOS list. It may give you a good idea of the overall picture. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FIsgnb7Tfj7tcRNnqRMKUOXQdEfR6HTUDY2vX6zKqqU/edit?hl=en&authkey=CNXN_oQH

The fees for EAD and AP are waived when filed together with AOS. So for $1070 for AOS you will get the EAD (I-765) and AP (I-131) "free".

Here is my AOS guide with document list: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/
