I am about to file the N-400K for my adopted son. My wife and I are U.S. citizens (born in the States), and have been living in the Philippines for 10 years. Our adopted son (adopted 4 years ago) has been, and is, living with us.

My understanding is that the N-400K application will result in us being able to fly him to the States where he will receive his citizenship. No intention for us or him to reside in the States, but come back immediately to the Philippines where we all reside.

My question is, do we need to file some sort of separate application for a visa for him to be flown to the States, or is that automatically included in the N-400K approval process? Thanx.

There is no N-400K. The N-400 is an application for naturalization. I think you're thinking of the N-600K.

The N-600K can be filed through the USCIS field office in Manila, but it can't be filed until the child has met all of the requirements of INA 322, one of which is that they've been lawfully admitted to the US. You have to include a copy of the child's I-94 with the petition, and the child won't get a stamped I-94 until they enter the US. You'll need to get a visa for the child. A B2 visitor's visa would be sufficient.
