Hello, thank you in advance for any help.

I have been a green card holder since April 2006. I am ready to submit my N-400.

I was able to get my green card because at the time I was a famous model back in my Country and I applied for special abilities and got accepted. Well, what happened though is that when I moved at the end, for one reason or another, I didn't end up practicing my "special ability" and now I am worried that might cause a problem on my N-400 form. I worked only from 2006 to 2007 as a model at a big famous company and then I worked from 2008 to 2009 as an Executive Assistant (I did not work the other years but I obviously filed taxes every year). Do you believe this may cause me any issues? Also, wanted to add that I have been married to a US citizen since May 2011 but I do not believe that would affect my status in any way (as it should be at least 3 years for citizenship through marriage).

Thanks

So you're applying based on 5 yrs of residency, correct? I don't see how it would be an issue. What you did for work, whether it was modelling or something else, is irrelevant as long as you filed taxes like a good person.

Good luck

Hi, that is correct, I am applying based on the 5 years rule (I have been a GC holder for 6 already) - my only concern was the fact that I didn't continue working on my "special abilities" but things change, life changes, and model's careers have a relatively short life span (especially if you are not a top top model as Giselle or Campbell).

Shouldn't be a problem.

Once you have reached the 5-year mark, all that matters is that you have been a Green Card holder for 5 years, no matter how hot you looked way back when.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

i think once you get your GC, you get to keep it unless there are conditions attached to it. I know there are entertainer worker's visas and whatnot but Green Cards are a bit different

If you have an actual greencard and not a work visa (b whatever it is), you have nothing worry about. Working visas are only valid as long as you maintain the employment they were granted for. Once you have a greencard, it's yours for life unless you choose to leave the country and give it up.
