The ones closest to the door went and warned us when the MP's were coming then everyone would make an exit and congregate at another bar. In Korea back then we never saw the Marines except for a few weeks every year during and after a major yearly exercise called Team Spirit. This was in 85-86.

Your are absolutely right, we (Marines) really have no presence in Korea except for the annual Team Spirit exercise. Oh boy, I did 2 of those puppies...my first introduction to Kimchi and mama san following us around the entire movement to provide all we needed, even the two-leg type.

Team Spirit, now that was a fun exercise and field experience.

From Texas to Miramar, CA., is a very long haul. Yeah 215 to 15 then get on the 163 - off at Miramar Blvd. right turn, main gate on the left.

Now this is the aircraft I really enjoyed watching, the AV-8. The SR-1 was a pure joy to watch screaming down the runway at Kadena, AFB Okinawa, Japan.

Had the pleasure to have fun on Okinawa a few times..good.gif

Very intense exercise indeed. For a couple weeks after coming in from the field on the exercise we couldn't help but run into Marines invading our turf.star_smile.gif

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

You have impeccable taste and this is your lucky day, here's the new and improved AV-8B. BTW, I can't recall the SR-1, my mind draws a blank. Do you mean the SR-71A or its proper Naval/Marine designation, the YF-12A or the A-12 program? I believe they did launch a few in 1965 but I couldn't tell you from which carrier, the Navy dropped out of the program and then the USAF and NASA continued on.

You know very well what I'm talking about with mama san and papa san being able to find a unit regardless of what nook and cranny they might have been hiding .

Yes we did invade Pusan, Pohang and various other areas, yet you Army and Airforce guys were good host as we took over for a few weeks.
