What if we don't get NOA1 before GC expires?

Hi all, I know I'm being a little paranoid but wanted to get feedback............

my husband's GC exp date is March 6 and we've already sent the I-751 last week to CSC, they got it overnight on Feb. 16, so I know we should probably get the NOA1 at least in the next 19 days before March 6 comes (we live in Calif).

BUT what if we don't get it in the mail at least a few days before the expiration date, even though the check will probably be cashed this week or so.

If I wait 30 days after we filed, until March 15, to make an InfoPass appointment for the I-551 stamp in his passport, then his GC will already be expired by 10 days. I'm thinking we should make an InfoPass appt a few days before the expiration date to get an I-551 stamp just in case the NOA1 doesn't come before March 6th. We can always cancel the appt if the NOA1 comes in time.

Anyone else ever been in this situation? We would have mailed the application out much earlier to leave more time for the NOA1, but we weren't able to.
