My wife got her permanenent greencard on April 24th 2009. As per Section 319a she was eligible to apply for citizenship on Jan 25th 2012. (3 year anniversary - 90 day early filing date). So i filed N400 on Jan 26th and we received the notice of action (acceptance) as of Jan 26th 2012.

Everyone i know has received their Biometrics appointmnet letter. This letter is mailed within 30 days of the acceptance and 14 days in advance of the appointment.

She did go for her biometerics in March 2011 when we applied for lifting conditions on the greencard. So is it safe to assume that we didnot receive the bio metrics appointment because the fingerprinting is valid for a stipulated timeframe?? Does anyone know about how long the biometrics are valid for?

Any input in the matter will be greatly appreciated..

My exwife did the same thing. She received an interview letter but no biometrics appointment. I called in to check and nobody could give me an answer. At the interview (finally) we were told that her previous biometrics, from the ROC, was still valid and that's why it didn't need to happen. It was confusing, but definitely easier.

Good luck! and congratuations.

I filed for citizenship half December, I did my bio last year for ROC on February 11, 2011 and I haven't heard anything about bio either (no interview either, did get a NOA and a yellow letter with some information regarding some info I need to bring to the interview). Like the previous poster also stated, some people don't have to and from what I've read in other topics, the bio seems to be valid for 15 months or so. If this is indeed correct, you still have a couple of months space ;)

Alejandro Mayorkas is the new director of the USCIS, really don't know what is policies are, Emilio T; Gonazalez was the last permanent director, had a couple of guys in between him as an acting director whatever in the heck that is.

Emilio was the one that got congress to double the fees with a promise of improving the processing times by 10% and reusing old fingerprints for as long as 15 months, but still insisted on that 80 buck charge because he said it cost that much to save and retrieve them.

Was only 11 months since my wife's last fingerprint during her ROC stage, but she got a biometrics appointment for more prints. Believe that was true for us because we have to make a 450 mile round trip, where her friends that lived across the street from their field office didn't.

But now the USCIS got a deal on ink jet printers so taking photos now for your certificate and printing those out in color on low grade paper. Yet another problem for some that live north is exposing your fingers to ice cold weather and getting cracks in them or the skin is all dried out. If that is the case, can be sure you will be called in for more prints.

if USCIS doesn't think biometrics are required, they will simply skip them
