Hello, So on the 10th of this month i recieved a letter from the embassy saying that they needed the following documents to conclude the k-1 visa petition..

x others: Letter from petitioner stating that they wish to pursue the petition approval depite having chatted with other for 4 months.

Well i thought this was so odd, and funny.. since i know that my fiance chatted others in the begining till she knew i was serious.. and funny since we both shared all friends on both facebook and yahoo.. so we both were fully aware of the others chatting habits..

Needless to say , i wrote a statement letter saying i still wanted to pursue the patition and intended to marry her within 90 days of her arrival in USA.

the embassy recieved this "notarized statement" ( i decided to get it notarized to make it offical) on the 14th of feb. so..

What timeframe am i looking at now for my fiance to get visa? her interview was jan 17th. when the made her resubmitt her cenomar, and birth cert... then the letter i recieved was dated jan 31. so,

If this letter only asked for 1 item, to conclude the petition, and i sent the asked for item, then whats next? i so dearly miss my fiancee as next wensday makes it 1 year since i seen her. and all this stuff seems so odd to me.. nobody i have contacted has had this asked of them so... any help from anyone is grateful.. we just want tis to come to pass, and soon i pray.. thanks so much jamie & lea

It's a good sign if the Embassy did not return her passport to her at her interview. Then her visa should be forthcoming in a week or two. If the Embassy has further suspicions about your relationship, it could take much longer.

How did the Embassy know about your/her chatting habits with others anyway?

facebook is evil :( just saying.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

hi jamiew, im just curious how did the embassy know you or her chatted with others? is she the one they are referring to or you, specifically? did she admit that on her interview or they do background checks?

THe letter i recieved was pretty vague about who they accused of chatting with whom..but my immigration lawyer believes they meant she was chatting with another..since as an american i am the only one with rights during this process.. but its funny, cause they said "4 months" well we both chatted with many others for the first couple months to see who was the best fit.. so who cares if one of us was chatting another..silly to ask if i still want to pursue the petition approval, since i was the one to pay all the fees, for medical and embassy interviews, plus pay for hotel... OF COURSE I WANT PETITION APPROVED... we have only waited 1 yr... dang.. so silly..

So you don't know how the Embassy found out you/she was chatting for 4 months with another person? I mean, is that even possible/legal?

I use it to find old friends from high school, and without facebook i would have missed my reunion...

OMG. I graduated in 1973 and somehow managed to make my 10 year reunion before anyone even dreamed of facebook. How did we do it??????????

Obviously it is possible. How would it be illegal if they do it on public forums? The consulate can do pretty much anything they want, it is a non-US citizen outside the US, it isn't like the 4th amendment applies in the PI.

Facebook isn't an issue, it's like any other social website. If there is something you don't want other people to know, don't post it on the internet. IMO.

I was referring to the petitioner, is it legal for a US Embassy to kind of "spy" on the petitioner? What other methods do they use? phone logs, text messages, online forums/social sites? I'm pretty sure they do some digging on beneficiaries though. Which is fine because in reality, it only helps the petitioner know if they are being used.
