Hello...Yes she can open outer plastic to get her passport...the other envelope inside is what will NOT open...

Yes she can open the plastic to get her passport, no issue there. The envelope NOT TO OPEN is the one with the corner cut off it.

The travel agent I was going to use just went out of business, disappeared! Okay now what do I do... I tried all the usual sites like expedia.com, etc. but am just getting frustrated. One problem I see often is they don't leave enough time to connect at the POE. And, all the Delta flights say "Oops it really isn't $823 anymore... now its $1500...." I hate Delta.

Suggestions?

And here is what Korean Air says on their web site when I try to buy a ticket:

"According to Philippines law, tickets for flights departing from the Philippines cannot be purchased from any region other than the Philippines. In accordance with the law, such flight tickets are not available in Korean Air's homepage. If you wish to purchase tickets for flights departing from the Philippines, please contact Korean Air office or service center in your region".

People had claimed there wasn't such as law, but I knew there was a law that prevented me from buying the ticket for my fiancee from America. Here it is. What now?

Ugh!!!!

Not sure where you are flying ? For west coast I use Hawaiian airlines, about $930 from Manila to Phoenix, I had to call them to book it as they won't do that online.

Yeap, Korean Air will not sell a ticket online for travel originating in the Philippines. Have you considered sending your fiancee the money so she can purchase the ticket?

Boston is the destination. My bank has a strange policy that I can only make 4 transactions a month from my savings account, and I've used them already. That is why I haven't sent more using Xoom. I have a checking account too but I can't use that with Xoom because my ex-wife permanently associated that account with Xoom, so no way to do it without getting a new account, or not using Xoom. Which, I guess I could do, but it is annoying, and I like Xoom.

What I don't understand is why I can't just pick each segment of the flight myself. I know planes land in Detroit. I know they take off from Detroit to Boston every hour. Why won't any of these awful web sites let me pick a flight to Boston from a list of them, so that she can connect with plenty of time? They have to package them together and give me no way to switch it to another flight later on.

A travel agent should be able to do that, but now I have to find one.

Can anyone answer me if the Delta flights that stop in Japan first have anything complex when connecting? Do you have to retrieve your luggage and go through security again? I had to once long ago when it was NWA, wondering if they still do that. All the connections are only 1 hour 40 minutes in Japan, not enough time if bags don't continue automatically to destination, etc.
