Hello everyone,

I hope you all doing fine. I would like you to help me with my question. I have a special immigrant visa. I entered the US and the border officer told me that I will get my green card in about 4-6 weeks. I have already put a friend's address so they can mail the green card to it. I only stayed for one week then I left the US to attend my mother's surgery cause she has cancer and I have to be there for her. they only stamped the passport with ( admitted ) which means I entered the state. the visa says ( upon endorsement service as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent resident for 1 year. My question is are they going to send my green card to my friend's address which I live in so my friend can mail it to me outside the US or they don't send it because I didn't stay until I get it.

Please I need a full explaintion.

USCIS will mail your green card to your friends address same you mentioned upon entry.

Your friend should not and cannot mail your Green Card, I believe that is illegal (someone can correct me if I am wrong)

You should be able to enter the US with your I-551 stamp as long as you are within that 1 year period.

Harsh_77 is absolutely correct.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
