Not really helping your cause here. It is possible to view this as an issue of NYPD viewing all Muslims as suspected terrorists, certainly you're seemingly desperate to do so.

However it is perhaps more reasonable to look at it as a hunt for terrorists using the greater Muslim community for cover, sometimes recruiting, sometimes for shelter and the NYPD therefor looking for said terrorists where they therefor logically would be, and in fact, were found.

Not really helping your cause here. It is possible to view this as an issue of NYPD viewing all Muslims as suspected terrorists, certainly you're seemingly desperate to do so.

*No* terrorists were found as a result of this operation. Not one.

The suspects cited by the NYPD spokesperson (referred to in the paragraph 4 of the OP) were identified separately, previous to this operation, not by subjecting every single person who happens to enter a mosque to be placed under surveillance and spied on. Standard police criminal investigation procedures are much more efficient and effective.

If you're an American citizen, you should be disturbed that the CIA is teaming up with the NYPD to conduct a secret surveillance operation on domestic targets without warrants and without probable cause.

So the NYPD started running its surveillance program on MSAs (and mosques) after those arrests.

Your idea of reasonable seems to belong in some police state where the Gestapo suspects everyone. The evidence is there that ALL Muslim were targeted, Somali professors, students, business, owners, those are cold, hard facts. You are the one who is desperate to justify what everyone else sees: an egregious act of misconduct on the part of NYPD. You state that terrorists were found and convicted of the crimes, how many? Thousands, millions? 1.5 billion? Probable cause? What would praying have to do with probable cause? Religious habits? Justification a posteriori is nice, but it is a massive fail.

I've recited this poem in my head many times reading posts here from some who believe it's ok to target law-abiding Muslims. I've even posted it a few times, but it doesn't seem to raise awareness among those who believe themselves to be immune from government abuse. I don't know what will. What they don't realize is that this is a test to see how little resistance there is to the desensitizing of the American public to the erosion of their rights. It's working; then, they will see they are more vulnerable than they think they are.
