hello VJers :)

i'm the petitioner. i will be getting a joint sponsor to fill out the I-864 as well. do they need to fill out the areas with the same information where necessary as i have on my I-864?

to be specific of what i am referring to, let's look at Part 5: Sponsor's household size.

does the joint sponsor need to fill out MY information or THEIR information?

the same example could be said for Part 6: Sponsor's income and employment, etc.

2003 - met online

12-09-2010 - met for the first time

12-11-2010 - engaged

06-07-2011 - married

09-27-2011 - I-130 sent

09-29-2011 - NOA1

04-04-2012 - I-130 approved

05-14-2012 - NVC Case number received

06-26-2012 - Case completed

08-02-2012 - VISA APPROVED :)

no, it's his or her information, so it's his or her household size plus the beneficiary. the joint sponsor has to make enough to cover himself, his or her familia and the benificiary. household size is themself, their family if they have one and the beneficiary.

the same for the joint sponsors income, his or her income and employment.

thank you :)

if i may continue to ask these next following questions which may seem obvious already but i would like to just make certain. again, it pertains to the joint sponsor's application on what she needs to fill out.

the reason why i am confused which needs to be filled out by whom because the I-864 application contains headings of "Sponsor" and not "Joint Sponsor." i wish there was a separate application for the joint sponsor.

PART 3: Information on the immigrant(s) you are sponsoring.

#8 I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above.

question - does the joint sponsor check the NO box because in parenthesis it states "Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors." am i considered a joint sponsor as well?

As the petitioner, you are considered the primary sponsor, not a joint sponsor. If you only have one joint sponsor then that joint sponsor will check the "yes" box.

as the primary sponsor, on your i864 on part one you will mark box A. I am the petitioner, I filed or I am filing for the immigration of my relative,

your joint sponsor will mark on his or her i864, on part 1 box D: I am the only joint sponsor

you are the sponsor, you will only have one joint sponsor. each one will mark on part 3 question 9 is yes, you are both sponsoring the principal immigrant. you as the sponsor and the other person as your joint sponsor.

and on question 8 you both mark that box.
