I'm not sure what this has to do with a K-1 visa. Sounds more like a diary entry.

I was wrote as many of us have family problems with acceptance to having a foreign spouses. It was a heart ache to me to get such resistance and was hoping it would help others into how the would like to go about their decissions. I hope my heartache was good for you evening laugh

You're an American woman marrying a Tunisian male somewhat younger than you are, and you hid this from your family. Really? Are you 12 years old and scared to tell daddy you like a boy you met in class?

Good luck with his interview, you're going to need it. Were I a CO, especially at a high fraud area with people who don't like the US, this wouldn't pass the smell test.

We had some similar issues with my husband's family.

I am 20yrs younger than my husband, so I got the whole 'she must be a gold-digger after a green card' deal thrown at me. Before we were married I had his mother tell me to go back to my own country because she couldn't see any reason why I would want to be involved, and couldn't possibly have anything in common, with her son, and that I was interfering with his relationship with his children.

For these reasons his parents and sister were not invited to our ceremony. In fact, they didn't even know we were getting married. My husband called them afterwards and told them.

I'm not saying that my situation is the same as yours, just that I can somewhat understand where you are coming from in not wanting to tell your family. However, I can see also why some other posters are concerned that hiding your marriage from your family might not look so good to a CO.

I wish you the best of luck and hope everything turns out well for you.

OK I guess I never made it official OR actually ever told EVERYONE ....including my family YES I GOT MARRIED. Was trying to avoid judgement, I just wanted to enjoy being happy before sinking into the "whys" or "what were you thinking" or "are you f**ing crazy. YES I maried a younger man. We are happy, I have a great new family that accepted me. I was afraid to share with my blood family.....I am sorry, think I made a bad judgement call thinking ya'all were small minded. Saif is the best part of life every day I wake up and I am his happiness each day... plz let us continue being happy is all I ask

It's your life; you deserve to be happy, don't you? I can share with you my own story of family issues, if you want to private message me.

I do thank you for your guidence REALLY... I have the other 13 brothers and sisters that are good with my marraige. This sister is the eldest and very outspoken about her beliefs. My keeping the marraige from her I "thought" at the time was to avoid agravating a delicate subject with her about race & religion. I felt that if she met him she would see what a wonderful human being he is and look past her racisim and look at him as a person. As I see now I should have just taken the critisim like an adult and not hide like a little girl. I do thank you for your time in responding as I did feel sooo lost and confused. I have seen others say family went crazy on them when they found out but all these people were on the other side, the foreigners that married American and afraid to tell their family. END RESULT...It is not good for either side to hide a marraige

You didn't say that your sister was a bigot. I'd take 13 and leave her to wallow in her own misery, why can't Lynn be happy for a change?

Thank you!! and I am sure many will say the same of my husband 20 yr younger. I know when people meet him they will see what a great person he is reguardless age/race

Bless your heart, those were some really harsh things for his mom to say, I cringed reading the words. I hope you have a very happy, wonderful marraige!

I am the only child between my mom & dad (both dead for yrs), I have 14 half brothers/sisters that are 10 to 22 yrs older than me and all have opinions but most know and are accepting, some with open arms. I have never married but found myself in love and knew I never wanted anyone else in life so I finally said yes to him. I made a good choice and I hope my eldest sister takes the opportunity to welcome a most wonderful addition to the family

BULLSH*T!!!!! More false info, you mean well but you are DEAD WRONG!!!!!! What they'll look at is the marriage in totality via documentation, how many people don't tell their family that they got married because the family doesn't approve or doesn't care.

Only hid from one outta 14 siblings lol, to avoid critical/racial confrontation....YES very childish. We are honest and simple people that are in love, no need for luck.
