That is very good news! I hope the other letter is just a mistake :)

Keep us posted!

I will see what we find out tomorrow. Since we've now received the NOA and the biometrics appointment, the first letter seems like it should be disregarded. Also, we haven't received a biometrics appointment for my stepdaughter, who was included on the application. I'm a little curious about that.

Good thing we live only about 15 miles from an office. I can't imagine what people do when they live hours and hours away. I think the office in Omaha serves all of Kansas and Iowa.

I received a separate biometrics appointment for me and for my son. Fortunately, they were the same day with one hour of difference. Good luck!

No it doesn't. Iowa is Des Moines for me (3 hours away).

I would DEFINITELY go to the INFOPASS (with GC's etc) because this does sound like a scam. If you have the original envelope it came in take that too. Very odd.

Despite the fact that our appointment was at 9 and we didn't talk to somebody until 10:15, everything went good. The officer said she had never seen them asking for somebody to mail them the original green card. She said that she shows nothing in the system out of the ordinary, meaning to this point no RFEs or holds of processing. She gave us her personal card with her email address and told us if we get any sort of other letter pertaining to this or a denial that we should scan it and email it to her along with the letter that we originally got and showed to her today. Also, she suggested that since we were there and had the biometrics appointment letter that we should go in there and ask for Angie and she would probably be able to do her biometrics now. We talked to Angie and she gladly did the biometrics that weren't scheduled until March 16. So happy to save another trip there and move this along almost a month faster!

Also, I asked why we didn't get a biometrics letter for my step daughter and she looked her up in the system and said they haven't ordered one and that sometimes they use the old picture and fingerprints for a child. I'm hoping this is the case because it would be odd, and she concurred, that a minor isn't scheduled for biometrics the same day as the adult. That is how it was for the AOS biometrics. She also said something that has me wondering. She said, "If your wife gets her card in the mail and your stepdaughter doesn't, then you will need to contact us to see what happened but right now I don't show that she needs biometrics." I'm hoping that means she saw something in the system that showed there will be no interview or RFE coming. We'll see!

Except for the very unfriendly security guards out front and the long wait(with our 4 year old and no entertainment), everyone was very nice and helpful!

Sorry for the misinformation. I thought I read somewhere that they do serve Iowa and Kansas. Perhaps, the Omaha office only serves parts of those states. Either way, I feel fortunate that I only live about 20 minutes away and not 3 hours! Your immigration appointments must take up your whole day then. That can't be fun. :crying:
