I dont know if this is in the right spot but I wanted to get a passport for my son but I couldnt do that until my husband signs a cosent form but he has to sign it at the US Embassy in Sana'a, Yemen. But he needs an appointment and when he asked they took his name and number (I think) and said they will call him when they have an appointment for him.

So my question is....

Is it really that hard to get a notary and to sign the consent form? I always that it was easy, most people tell me all he has to tell them is he needs a notary and they will do it that same day, is this true? if so then I guess my husband isnt asking them for the right thing.

I sent my husband the link for authorizing consent. He had it notarized at the local Algerian notary. He faxed a copy to the passport issuing office and mailed me the original. I did this based on direction from that office. I received the passport before I could even send the original.

They told me that the US honors foreign notaries so there is no need to go to the embassy.
