Hi All,

I'm currently filling out the affidavit of support and I'm a bit confused. How should I answer question 11? The sample form on this website leaves it blank. Is that correct?

Also, in the Oath or Affirmation of Sponsor, there is a blank space at the end of the second line after the words "as amended." What is that for? Should I write something there or leave it blank?

Thanks for your help!

Which affidavit of support, the I-134 or I-864? It would help to know at what stage of the visa process you currently are.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

If you're talking about the example of form I-134 needed for the K-1 interview, I made a research in the past on VJ about #11 and didn't find any definite answer. My fiance chose to check "intent" and specified he intends to support me as his wife after we get married…

For the blank after "as amended", again, a quick research on the VJ search bar and you'll see this question came up many times. It appears it's a form mistake, and I advise you to leave it blank.

PS: Please, create a timeline. :)

Sorry, it's the I-134. The question that I find confusing is the one that asks whether or not I intend to make a specific contribution (number 11).

Thanks again!

Merci, didopage! If I plan to support my fiancee generally, though, would that then mean that I do not plan to make a specific contribution? In other words, what's mine is hers and what's hers is mine. To me, a specific contribution says that you're helping someone do something in particular and only that, which is not the case.

It's a confusing and somewhat ambiguous question...

I'll get to work on that timeline :-)

This is the way I read it too. It also doesn't really apply to our situation, as the I-134 is generally used for non-immigrant visas and while the K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, it presumes immigrant intent.

So, when I was doing this back in 2009, I followed the example provided in the VJ example forms library. I didn't check either box, and in the space provided I wrote "N/A - K-1 visa process for permanent residence." We had no problem.
