Hey guys!

I've been reading this forum for a couple of days now...it's been SUCH an encouragement to hear how other people are doing who are going through the same thing.

Let me introduce myself...

My name is Ashley, I'm 24 years old, and I just moved back from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I taught at an international school for two years where I met my fiance, Pedro, who was also a teacher at the school! When he gets his visa (fingers crossed!), he will be joining me in Baltimore. Just like all of you, the end of this process CAN'T come soon enough!!!

Our NOA1 was received and sent to Vermont on February 16, 2012. I noticed that there are several others who are Feb. 16 ---woot woot!

I love how everyone is full of optimism and hope...let's keep it up and support each other :)

August 10, 2012: Pedro and I meet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when I moved there to teach

December 12, 2011: Pedro proposes!

February 16, 2012: NOA1

August 16, 2012: NOA2

August 18, 2012: NOA2 hardcopy

August 27, 2012: NVC receives package and case no. assigned

August 29, 2012: Package sent to Rio de Janeiro

September 3, 2012: Package arrives in Rio de Janeiro

Just remember it rolls in waves like the ocean. It did the same thing last year when I was waiting so I have no doubt the tide will be turning soon. I can hardly wait to move here and finally be in our home for good.I hate leaving because we have done a full gut of it and remodeled it and we are right on the water in Long Island sound...Heaven it is... smiles for everyone.

hugs

I wasn't going to say anything, but have been MIA and silent long enough. I haven't been around much cause of all of the negativity in this place but popped in today to see how everyone is. I can't believe I came back to a full on argument on the boards because someone shared good news. We're all grown ups here. We are here to SUPPORT each other and be happy for each other's approvals. Everyone here is stressed, we're all in the same boat.

My fiance and I have a lot more stress than just the visa because we're planning to take his kids out of his country. In addition to all the waiting, we're having to prove to the UK government that we will provide the best life for his boys. We've spent months getting criminal records checks, writing statements, going to court, meting with social workers, and having everyone's lives gone over with a fine tooth comb. Somehow we're nowhere near as stressed as everyone here seems to be. I'm not saying "we have it so much harder than you" cause I don't know what everyone is going through. I'm just saying that we've chosen to take this time to get our lives in order, plan a wedding (even in vague broad ideas and not concrete plans), start planning the move, etc. I check my texts and emails every morning and shrug it off when there's no approval cause we're in the time frame. We check USCIS every week or so and the same with Igor's list and the time seems to pass faster than when we stress over time frames.

It may be hard, but might I suggest people take a step back and breathe? Don't obsess over the USCIS site and Igor's list. Things will happen when they happen and nothing you do will change that. If there's a delay of a month, then a small blip on the radar of your life together. You will survive. It hurts, I know it does. Obsessing makes it hurt more. We all have energy to expend...only you can choose to be positive and creative with this energy or be negative with it. I'd much rather do something constructive and positive with my life than sit around worrying about something I have no control over.

On a happier note...Welcome Ashley! It's nice to see a new, optimistic face around here :)

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.
~~Albert Schweitzer
