wow, sorry for butting in to the feb boards, but i like to keep an eye on my friends' progress, and was so sad to see this post. mary's original post was so positive, she even ended it with a beautiful picture to try and cheer everyone up, i don't understand your reaction at all. it's not a pitty competition, and no one should be made to feel bad about trying to find light in their own personal darkness...

good luck to EVERYONE still waiting, your time is coming! :luv:

Totally agree! We are all here on the same boat... one day it's better, other is worse but we are trying to comfort ourselves the best we can... we have a lovely community here but at the end of the day , we are all selfish in a way as we want to be with our loved ones... everyone is finding a comfort in something different, for one person it's the possibility of spending some time with their fiance during the waiting time, for others skype, phones etc... Most my January peeps are meeting their loved ones this or next month, where we are going to wait till I have my visa (that's 7months apart) but I am not going to get upset over the updates how nice it is to spend some time together while I am hurting and missing him so much... that's life, and these are our choices and all we can do is try and cope with what we are going through the best we can :)

Thanks sabi, for the numbers, it's truly appreciated! 2/9 seems a long way off, but at least they are moving and I have been happy to see London folks getting their interview dates in 2 months so that's a good thing.

....and no worries ms kittylondon. I know people are hurting so I let it roll off my back. I have my days where I want to cry like the rest of us, but staying focused on our future has kept that smile on my face! star_smile.gif

I just found out we got the new apartment. I am now a Brooklyn girl as of 8/1. I'd buy you all a drink if this were a bar!

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, and I appreciate those of you who could see where I was coming from and that I meant nothing by my remarks. And now that I think about it, I am very lucky: to live in an age with cell phones and internet access so that Aaron and I can communicate even to the limited extent possible, and to have had the funds and time off from work to have been able to spend as much time with him as I have. It could be so much worse, even if I am despairing right now at there ever being an end to all of this waiting.

(Time to turn off the VJ email notifications, it seems.)

As everyone knows this process is no for the faint of heart. This is our second time going through it as we goofed up on the first go around. What I can say is that at some point it will end. Keeping busy is a good thing and I feel everyones pain. I am so fortunate to spend the time together with Glenn and I know the timing is as it should be. Keep the lines of communication open and for the petitioners, remember it really is harder for the beneficiary...They need your love and understanding more at this time than at probably any other.

We are a strong bunch and will see this through together. Have an awesome weekend

Congrats Mary! That's awesome! It will be so much fun decorating and getting everything ready - and what a great distraction to boot.

And I don't think is ever meant towards anyone when someone vents - we are all waiting, all struggling, and sometimes we have good days and sometimes we have bad. No one in 'real life' even remotely understands how brutal this process has been, how hard the separation is, so I feel like this is the only place to go. We whine, we moan, we woe-is-me...and in the end we all want the same thing. And it's hard watching visas approved out of turn and it's even MORE difficult to be here with no control over anything.

And in spiteful retribution I am declaring that Vermont is crossed off my vacation plan list. Take your Green Mountains and put 'em where the sun don't shine. I'm content enough with the Blue Hills. :P

So, to bring some positive happy wedding stuff to the board...

Yesterday I tried on wedding gowns for the first time!!! Eeps! How exciting is that! I want something tea-length, and none of the places I went had anything, but they did let me try on some long ones, that could be cut and hemmed into tea length gowns. And there was one that I tried on that was a longer length, but comes in a tea length and can be ordered in. I have appointments at two gown places on Saturday too :D

Also, I had started building our wedding website/app on this site called appycouple.com a while back, and I entered a contest - I had to submit my pinterest board for the wedding, and the winner gets a design on the appy couple site based on their wedding/pinterest board. I was told yesterday that I won! :D It'll take about 4 weeks for their designers to come up with something, and I totally can't wait to see it :) It's even going to be named after me! LOL.

Exciting about the wedding gown too. I ordered a dress a while back. Don't now how it will fit me, so a little nervous about that. Time will tell....

Congrats on your apartment Mary! I love new spaces, planning and decorating. Can't wait for me and my fiance to decorate our place together:)

I love what you say Kimmie. And I think waiting for the NOA2 is the hardest part. At least when we get it we are more involved and things start to move a little faster.

Crossing fingers for all of us!

Second time round! Can I ask what happened? I'm looking at what you've said in your time line about being five days off the 'free to marry', but I'm not sure what that means.

It is so nice that you are able to be philosophical and positive about the wait. It's tough but thank goodness for Skype, huh? Have you guys been able to visit each other a fair bit? I agree with you that this process takes strength, and that's one nice thing about it, isn't it - it has drawn out qualities in me that I wouldn't have realised I had otherwise. It makes you discover a lot of strengths in yourself and in your relationship.

I got so excited about being divorced and able to start my life with Glenn that we missed the part of free to marry at the time you file the petition means if there is a waiting period after the final divorce order you have to wait until then. I missed it by 5 days. our fault but difficult nonetheless. Yes I have used all my 6 months stateside for the past 3 years. Plus he came to visit me in Canada. I can stay here until Aug 27 and hopefully by then we will have an approval.

stay strong..

I hope I don't get a RFE cause all my pictures I wrote with pen in the back all the dates and event.... ?

It is pretty weird as there's bin a lot of people who's done the same and were approved!Sadly it looks like it all depends on an adjudicator. I'd say if you sent the stamps in the first place, they wouldn't care about pictures that much, as they are secondary proof...It shows again how unfair the process is, one person can get way with something that another won't...
