I don't have any experience with these sort of complications, but contacting a congressman sounds like it could help. If the situation is really that dire, then these might be the sort of circumstances that would qualify for an expedite? Those seem to be very difficult to get, though: I saw another couple here with a similar situation (but in South America, I believe?) who tried for an expedite and got denied. So I'm not sure how likely that would be to work.

I hope she stays safe! That must be nerve-wracking being so far away with things like that happening. Aaron is in a safe enough place so I don't worry about the political situation, but even so, the couple of times he's been ill, I've been a basket case. It's so hard not being geographically close to them.

Joy,

Thank you ao much for your feeling toward my fiancee and I. I wish you an Aaron a happy marriage and God will protect him from any danger. I am afraid to ask my congressman for a service request, and then got denied so they ignore my application for longer time than it should be. That what made me hesitated to do so.

There is a backlog that they will probably never be able to work their way out from under. So, they are always processing petitions that were submitted months ago. The actual adjudication, according to people on VJ who are very familiar with the process (some of whom have worked for USCIS) typically takes around 5 minutes, once they actually reach your petition.

Man, I wonder how backlogged they must've been to get to this position...I hope it was just a matter of understaffing/underestimating rather than just procrastination/laziness...

From what I understand it takes under 30 minutes to adjudicate our petitions but it takes that long to make it through the volume of petitions as they have a few different kinds to work on. That is why it goes in waves. This slow down with VSC will pass and they will go back to our K1's.

I know how difficult this waiting is and I am confident it will work out when it is our time. Sucks but it's true...

Terri

Yeah, it does suck because I want to see Eun Hee already (it's only been a month since we last saw each other but it feels like a year!)...a month to go before the 5 month deadline...

UGH I was hoping for some serious progress from VSC today, Thursdays had been good to us the past few weeks!

Seriously disappointing. Will this ever end?

Wish it would. The lack of progress at VSC is just abysmal. I really took the time to go through the petitions from VSC today and the trend I've seen pretty consistent now is NOA2 following about 160-165 days after NOA1. I've been calculating my time based on received date as indicated after input of the receipt number on USCIS.gov. But I'm strictly going with my NOA1 now just as VJ uses for calculations.

1/13/12 - I-129F Petition Submitted to Dallas Lockbox

So with the Miami Heat winning the championship (Boooooo! Go Chicago Bulls!) I was bored and wanted to see the people around my confirmation number and see what is happening... So i started with

WAC12902115## all the way to WAC12902118## and got some crazy results

more than 25+ Approvals for i-129f's

saw about 20+ RFE's for i-129f

and many many many initial reviews

I saw some that were approved in March (2-3) which had to be expedited... Mostly May- June!! So we are getting close CSC!

So I will sleep a little better that people are getting approved and only 2 away from my number too both ways!

Yes. At this rate they will have finished your February petitions by September. It literally took them 1.5 months just to do the first 2 weeks of January....Not good at all. They'll have an adjudication nightmare on their hands shortly. It might already be too late unless they make the effort to redirect resources.

I don't mean to be short, but posting that negativity gets old. Frankly I or anyone else on this forum doesn't need your theories about our petitions not getting done until September. Please use your time a little more wisely and either try and be positive or find a hobby.

The good news is that they can not keep this pace up. So it should improve. And you won't be waiting that long. But just be prepared for the worst. It is 100% possible that some February filers will be waiting until September for approval. We were very optimistic in May as January Filers and then an entire month of inactivity set us all back a minimum of 1 month and there has been little improvement since. I should have been more skeptical then. Be optimistic that things will improve and VSC will pull itself together. Hope for the best. But you should expect for the worst. I am optimistic but we do need to see a change at VSC. Next week will be very indicative of just how long the rest of January filers and February and beyond will be waiting. We will lose another 3 weeks minimum if they don't pull it together over there. 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year, and it's not in our favor. There are some serious issues at VSC right now and we just need to hope they realize that the K1s aren't going anywhere. They need to get busy adjudicating them. If things improve next week, then we're on track. But we've been saying that for over a month now. Something is not right. I just wish they would fix it.

I think VSC just isn't processing K1's right now as a high priority....or they have few resources designated to it....it was the same story for the CSC a few months back. At that time VSC was kicking out visas like crazy while CSC was moving like molasses.

These processing centers are not solely staffed for the K1 process. They are processing all kinds of the different visas available (work visas, CR1 visas, etc), and when they get behind on one type I think they shift their focus away from one type and address the one that is lagging behind.

if you're after 5 months, I would call your congress person and see what they can do for you. I got a response within 72 hours from the congress person. In an election year, I guarantee they are trying to address every need that arises from someone (I woudn't exactly use that as a bribe/threat against your congress person, but I think it's already implied that they can win your vote if they are able to help you). I know I'll be throwing a vote to the woman who helped me out.
