Just an update, USCIS managed to lose my I-765. So I have to get some more photos taken and resubmit! Glad they have the AOS, I would like to see that it's been touched though, that'll probably in another 3 months I guess.

Nightmare! Hope it all moves quickly for you once you resubmit

So has anyone got any plans or thoughts of visits back to their motherland?!

I'm just waiting for the all clear before I make a trip. It feels like it's been ages - looking to go back for a week before starting work but I'm not sure that's going to tie in too neatly. We have 2 weddings in the UK this year and would like to go to both of them! How about you?

Yes! The plan from the start was to go back this summer. Out of my two best friends one is getting married and the other is having her first baby, I want to be there! And I'm missing both friends an family.... Plus escaping the HOT and HUMID Virgina summer to the COOL Norvegian summer is a plus.... But seriously, this will probably be the last time I can go back for longer than two-three weeks for a very, very long time.....

Hey Terri, your post inspired me to go peek at my own update and sure enough, it was picked up on 22nd - just looked at the tracking info and it made it to Lexington, KY by the end of the day. Expected delivery is Monday! Yay... now I can find a job :D

I'm just waiting for the all clear before I make a trip. It feels like it's been ages - looking to go back for a week before starting work but I'm not sure that's going to tie in too neatly. We have 2 weddings in the UK this year and would like to go to both of them! How about you?

I'd love to go back for a wee trip in May when my new nephew and also cousin's child are both due an entry into the world but it's probably not going to be possible! We're looking at going for two weeks over Christmas and New Year and having a wedding reception for all our Scottish peeps then :dance: By then the new family members will be doing slightly more than sleeping, crying and pooping anyway!!!

Speaking of having a baby! Our original plan was a one month trip to my wife's country in August, but a few days ago she heard that her favorite-uncle and his wife are expecting their baby in October. Now, she can't decide whether to go in August to see her family or instead, a shorter trip in winter break to see her family and the baby :D though decision :lol:

Well on Friday night I received the email from USCIS telling me my card had been picked up by USPS. It arrived today. WOW I thought maybe by Friday but 2 days later?... Crazy. So now I move on to the next step. SSN, then CT license, proof of insurance for my car, registration, temporary plates to get the emissions test and then TA DA, I'll be able to drive my car again. Oh how I have missed her.....lol

We've been thinking of going back for Christmas next year, but a number of unpredictable factors may affect that, so we'll see. We *are* taking our first married plane trip together in June, though: using some frequent flyer miles to go to CA for a few days. Fun AND bonafide-relationship fodder: win-win!

So the good news is Rob officially got a job. He is supposed to start next Monday! The bad news is his EAD still hasn't arrived. The USPS tracking suggested it should have arrived yesterday as it was sitting the holding facility not to far from my house, but it didn't come. My postal carrier has the tendency to be really bad about delivering mail to the right people. I'm really, really hoping it arrives today, otherwise I'll be very concerned.

Well, that's really good news. As for the stress? That's par for the course - not a step in this process has been without stress. You have enough documentation to show that the EAD has been approved and it is on its way... could you pick it up from the post office if it doesn't come today?

On a different note... I've just noticed it's a year ago, today, that I joined VJ.... who'd have thought it would be quite the journey it is....?
